I have played far too much WoW for my own good over the past week, neglecting my 80s’ dailies in favor of leveling my Single Abstract Noun “flagship” character, Kamaliya the Draenei Shaman, up to 20. (She actually ended up at level 21 by the time I’d completed all the quests in Azuremyst and Bloodmyst Isles.) And I must say… I had fun bouncing around as a spacegoat. After having more or less memorized the Horde low-level zones, it was exciting to experience fresh, new questing content. I enjoyed the storytelling in the Draenei starting zones. The questlines there really set up Draenei characters to have a deep dislike and mistrust, if not outright hatred, of Blood Elves. Whereas your average Silvermoon Blood Elf, starting out in Eversong Woods, spends his or her time battling the Wretched, the Scourge, the Night Elves, the Trolls… and has no idea whatsoever of what Kael’thas’s followers have been getting up to in the Outland, or of the existence of the Draenei at all. This dichotomy of racial starting experiences enriches and broadens the WoW world — makes it, I think, that much more like a “real world”.
I put Kamaliya’s first talent points into Elemental, so I continued down that tree until she got to level 20… at which point I spent one of her two accumulated golds to re-spec, as I’d decided that since Kamalia is already Resto/Elemental, I want to try Enhancement with Kamaliya. Now that Kamaliya’s up to level 20, has finished all the quests in her racial starting zones, and gotten herself an Elekk (paid for with her “inheritance”, courtesy of a throwaway DK), however, she will be retiring for awhile while I bring characters of each of the other Alliance races up to level 20 and through all the quests of their respective racial starting zones.
…Though before I choose my next SAN character, I’ll be headed back to the Ghostlands for a bit, as Kimona, my level 16 BE Priest, has been complaining vociferously about how she’s been waiting forever to get to level 20, and she really wants her Inner Focus and her Blue Hawkstrider.
Hah! I’ve found a fellow ! (Via the most recent post on Kirina’s Closet)
Glad to have found you!
