Kelilla was sitting by the window of her tiny, newly-rented rooms in Ironforge picking out a seam and cursing her clumsiness with needle and thread when she heard a jolly voice singing. She looked out and saw a strangely dressed dwarf walking through the Commons, juggling an amazing array of small objects. Laying her tailoring aside, she hurried down to the street to get a better look at this intriguing sight.
The dwarf told her about a Faire going on that very week in Elwynn Forest! That sounded like fun! Kelilla just had to go see it.
This was a good excuse to go shopping and get a playful new hairdo.
Kelilla hadn’t spent any time in Goldshire when she’d passed through Elwynn Forest previously while traveling to Westfall. When she got to the town, she went into the inn, hoping to find someone who could tell her how to get to Northshire Abbey, as she’d picked up a message to be carried to that place while she was in Stormwind. The inn was very crowded and the behavior of the patrons was rather shocking. Kelilla had never seen and heard so many loonies in her life — not even after the Gnomeregan disaster, when the little village not far outside the great Gnome city’s gates where she grew up was flooded with physically and mentally ailing refugees. She was relieved when she spotted a sober looking young man in a guard’s uniform entering the hall. When he came up to the bar where she was seated, she politely asked, “Excuse me, sir, do you know the way to Northshire Abbey?”
The young man nodded. “Follow me, ” he replied, gesturing toward the door.
Kelilla followed him out of the inn and out to the edge of town, where he pointed down a road leading east.
“Go straight down this road,” he said, “You can’t miss it.”
“Thank you, sir,” said Kelilla.
He bowed and walked back into the inn.
Kelilla decided to run her errand to the Abbey before continuing to the Faire. Upon returning to Goldshire, she looked around for the Faire. Fortunately, it was very easy to spot!
Oh, wow! There were so many nifty things to look at! Kelilla had a hard time deciding what to do first.
She played with the steam tonks a couple of times. It was hard to drive and shoot at the same time. She usually missed the other tonk she was aiming at, and sometimes she drove over her own mines!
Kelilla got her fortune told by the mystical Gnoll, Sayge. “The time will soon come for you to make a choice in a pressing matter,” he told her. Oooh, how fascinating! Kelilla remembered the poster she’d seen on the walls of Tinkertown announcing High Tinker Mekkatorque’s plans to re-take Gnomeregan. Perhaps she would get to do something exciting to help out!
Then, in a far corner of the Faire, Kelilla found the best thing of all!
She just had to try it!
She flew through the air with the greatest of ease.
Kelilla just couldn’t get enough of the Blastenheimer 5000. She landed inside the target ring on her third or fourth try, and kept running back for more. She got close a few times, but didn’t manage to land in the target again. After about twelve tries, she finally started to feel kind of sick. Perhaps the Fizzy Faire Drink and the Funnel Cakes were catching up to her….
It was an honor to meet the proprietor of the Faire himself, despite his glowering ogre bodyguard.
Of course the organizer of such a wonderful, varied, fantastic event would be a Gnome!
Kelilla had a wonderful afternoon at the Faire. It was a lovely and much needed break from her daily routines, and she looks forward to visiting it again sometime.
