Long before my Tauren Hunter, Ketura, reached level 70, I had the Leggings of Beast Mastery squirreled away in the bank for her. She has worn them proudly ever since she leveled up enough to do so.

I kept watching the AH for other BoE “of Beast Mastery” items, but to no avail; it seemed that these handsome pants did not have any coordinating items.
A week or two ago, as I was browsing mail items in WMV while working on Transmogrification template kit ideas for Kamalia, I discovered a chestpiece and belt that matched the Leggings of Beast Mastery perfectly!

The Netherstrike Breastplate & Belt are crafted by leatherworkers. Sadly, the only way the gorgeous style set of Leggings of Beast Mastery + Netherstrike Breastplate can legitimately be worn is as an RP outfit, because the pants are itemized for a Hunter whereas the chestpiece & belt are itemized for an Elemental or Resto Shaman (gj, Blizz
). This ensemble would have to be purely a Transmogrification template kit for Ketura.
I knew Kamalia already had the patterns because she had made a Netherstrike Belt for herself back in the day. I sent Ketura off to the Elemental Plateau in Nagrand to farm the required Primal Air and started thinking about how to fill out the set. At first, I thought perhaps I could use pieces from the green and maroon Outland recolor of Hunter T2.

The green and maroon worked well with the green and blue, but the silver clashed horribly with the gold. Back to scanning in WMV….
I soon found two very similarly styled shoulderpieces that complemented the chestpiece and leggings nicely: the Bog Epaulets and Sparkleshell Mantle. I tried the Turtle Scale Gloves and Auchenai Boots (left), then decided that I preferred the leather-like look of the Talhide Lined items (right) because they allowed the distinctive and beautiful styling of the chestpiece and leggings to stand out more.

I finished collecting the necessary Primals with Ketura, farmed up some Nether Dragonscales at Singing Ridge in Blade’s Edge Mountain with Kamalia, sat down to craft the Netherstrike Breastplate… and only then did I realize that the Netherstrike items were BoP.
Drat.
I still really want to use this outfit as a Transmogrification template kit because it is so unique and beautiful. But it will have to be for Kamalia (I’ll need to scan the AH for the pants), even though it looks decidedly more Hunter-like (to my eye) than Shaman-like. I’ll just have to collect the full green & maroon T2 recolor — or hey, perhaps the red & violet original T2 itself! — for a Transmogrification template kit for Ketura (after she reaches level 85, of course).
So… you can only craft the Netherstrike items for yourself? O_o
That seems silly to me.
Back in the day, in BC, you also had to have the Dragonscale Leatherworking specialization both to make and to wear the items. The specialization requirement has been removed, but the bind-on-pickup attribute has not. :/ It does seem pretty silly to me, especially because I’ve read that other formerly specialization-restricted items are no longer BoP, either.
That kit sure does look good!
I like it when I see some creativity put into the formation of a new gear set for 4.3. Even if it doesn’t work out in the end.

Thanks! It was fun to put together, and I’m thinking that I just might use it for Kamalia until I get the aqua Elements and black Earthfury sets completely collected — or perhaps I’ll use it as a leveling/pre-T14 transmogrification kit in the next expansion
It’s certainly hard to find a good gear set if you’re not a Blood Elf! xD
I settled on T4 for my Hunter in the end. She’s a Goblin and not only do I not like a lot of the Hunter tier sets but a lot of them look awful on a tiny green person ._. I haven’t even started with WMV (partly because I couldn’t find a working version) but T4 should work. Just need to start doing Kara!
Unless new info has been put out blizzard has said the void storage will be usable by all your toons. It sounded like you could stick soulbound items in it to shuffle them from character to character. No clue if thats really a feature. The question was asked but got no answer.
I hadn’t heard that. That’d be pretty nifty if it really works that way! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see — but on the other hand, if Void Storage is account-wide rather than for individual characters, it means that my individual toons will have less space in which to empty out their own banks!
[...] Leggings of the Skirmisher. I like this set because I realized, while putting it together, that the Netherstrike/Leggings of Beast Mastery set I wanted to make for Ketura but ended up having to use for Kamalia’s Elemental set is simply [...]
