One of my favorite low-level questlines in pre-Shattering Kalimdor was in Stonetalon Mountains, where Tammra Windfield asked adventurers passing through Sun Rock Retreat to help her revitalize the Charred Vale.
First, we collected Gaea seeds from around Mirkfallon Lake.

Then, after Tammra enchanted the seeds with druidic magic, we planted them around the Charred Vale.

I always wished that the little trees would persist longer and hoped that someday we would see Tammra’s efforts fully succeed.
I was very happy, then, to see that after the Shattering, the Charred Vale was indeed full of green, living trees, with grass on the ground.

Of the Bloodfury harpies, once so numerous, only the rare spawn Sister Riven remains.

But Tammra’s triumph could not be allowed to be total, oh no… in the Shattering, a volcano rumbled to life, causing half of the Charred Vale to become even more thoroughly charred than it had been previously.

Tammra is no longer at Sun Rock Retreat, nor anywhere to be found. I wish that she were still around, perhaps down in the Charred Vale, continuing to care for her new trees… or maybe being the one to give this very similar quest at Karnum’s Glade in Desolace.

OMG, I remember that questline! I did it way back when my main was just a wee leveling Druid! I remember wishing the trees would persist longer as well. I’m so glad that they eventually grew into a forest.
The Gaea seeds were a questline I did with pretty much every character because I liked it so much.
Haha that’s totally cute! Glad to see the devs didnt forget this quest and its influence on the land! So many trees!!
Yes, indeed
Ahhh, this quest! I do want to save the Charred Vale. I’m a good druid!!! So glad it looks a little more revitalized now.
I took several screenshots of the Charred Vale before Cataclysm hit because I’d heard that it was going to be changing, but I don’t remember anymore if I’d I’d just heard that there was going to be a new volcano there or if I’d also heard that it was going to be revitalized. I’m glad that it *did* get revitalized
