8. Vacation Spot
If Azeroth was the real world, where would you vacation to?
Before the Shattering, I might have chosen this secluded Tauren fishing village off the southern tip of Silithus as a pleasant place to get away from it all. Sadly, this location, like several other “hidden” or “secret” spots, vanished in the cataclysm.
The eponymous loch of Loch Modan would have made a perfectly lovely vacation spot… before Deathwing went and destroyed the Stonewrought Dam.
Even now, the Farstrider Lodge in Loch Modan or the Quel’danil Lodge in the Hinterlands might be nice places to spend a week — if the hunters and elves who live there would be willing to put up with tourists. At the Farstrider Lodge, one could also take day-trips out to Ironband’s Excavation.
Dalaran is easily the place I’d choose for a “visit and explore a world-renowned city!” vacation.
Outside of Dalaran, Northrend has some other great places for a vacation. I can easily imagine a week spent meditating, soaking, and relaxing at the steam pools near Taunka’le Village, interspersed with hikes to Lake Kum’uya and the Tuskarr village of Unu’pe.
The Howling Fjord region is well-known for its natural beauty. If only the Vrykul could be convinced to stop following the Lich King and make peace with the Alliance, they could make a fortune on hotels, cruises, guided hiking and mountain climbing tours, and other tourist/vacation-type ventures.
The Grizzly Hills particularly appeal to me because of their resemblance to the Rocky Mountains.
After looking at all of these wonderful destinations, though, I think I would ultimately choose to travel to the place in Azeroth that most captures my heart, and vacation at this high mountain lake in the far southeastern corner of Mulgore.
And, on that note, BTH and I are going on vacation for the next two weeks — the first of which will be at his grandmother’s cabin with no internet at all — so there probably won’t be any new posts here for about a fortnight.

Great shots Kamalia – I have never seen that Tauren Village in Silithus (and I guess now I never will).
This post, and any like that, are right to my taste! Really like to get an insight into what others think/feel about particular areas in the game.
Screenshots are great. Particularly Howling Fjord and Mulgore ones!

Absolutely wonderful screenshots! I never realised there were steam pools near Taunka’le Village. I will definitely take a soak next time I am passing by 😀
