I was quite amused when I first heard about the tamable Ghostcrawler during Cataclysm. My Hunter looked for the ghost crab a couple of times, but I didn’t want to spend any time camping for it. I had other things to do, and it seemed like the competition would be pretty high. In December, when Greg Street announced that he would be leaving Blizzard, I thought to myself that I really ought to go catch Ghostcrawler. It wasn’t until last week, though, when we found out where he’d gone, that I decided to just go do it. Ketura spent most of last week in Vashj’ir. I made a circuit of the Abandoned Reef once or twice a day. On Friday, I spotted him! It took me four sightings along that particular Ghostcrawler path before I actually managed to tame him. I was a bit frustrated by how the crafty crustacean walked over my Frost Trap like it wasn’t even there. I also derped up a bit and took a couple of attempts to realize that I had to be off my Abyssal Seahorse before I started the tame cast, or it wouldn’t work.
In my circuit that day, I’d seen a human Hunter floating, also clearly on the watch. I found Ghostcrawler in a different section of the reef. That human will just have to catch him another day.
Now that I’ve tamed Ghostcrawler, Ketura has all the hunter pets she wants (for the time being). She has 36, leaving her plenty of spots for new Draenor fauna. I confess that I haven’t really gotten into hunter pet collecting because I only use a few of them regularly, and not using hunter pets makes me feel even more guilty than not using mounts or battle pets.
