Because it is still summer and therefore I can, and because I knew I would be too distracted to focus on working on the items on my to-do list anyway even if I did go to my office on campus, I stayed home this morning to follow the Blizzard Watch and Wowhead liveblogs of the big expansion announcement.
Blizz sure seems to be pulling out all the stops for this expansion — islands in the south seas, the Burning Legion, demon hunters, Suramar, Queen Azshara, the Emerald Dream/Nightmare, more about the vrykul, more about the Titans, Alleria & Turalyon returning at last… could this be shaping up to be the ultimate, or perhaps penultimate, WoW expansion?
But why didn’t they mention anything about Wrathion? Surely he must be involved in this somehow… perhaps we will find him directing affairs in the Lair of the Earthwarder?
Speaking of the new zones, I am definitely excited to discover and learn more about another branch of the Taurenoid family tree!
So, Demon Hunters. It makes sense for them to be restricted to the elven races. I predict that they’ll start off at level 70, given that storyline teaser about starting off 10 years prior to Azeroth’s current timeline and being sent away from the Black Temple by Illidan for a secret mission. I’m sure I’ll roll one eventually — through probably not until after Kamalia has gotten to level 110, to let the initial rush taper off — just to see how their introductory storyline goes. I might not go any farther than that with a Demon Hunter, though, because I imagine I’ll be more interested in doing the Class Order stuff with my Tauren and my Mages.
The Class Halls and spec-specific Artifact weapons sound quite intriguing — I’m among those who mourned the loss of the original class-specific questlines in Cataclysm, so I’m excited to see class-specific content returning. I think I’ll feel kind of sheepish about being the Grand Poobah of my Class Order, though, considering how casually I’ve played for the last couple of expansions. I mean, I haven’t even raided in Warlords…
