A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by my Blood Elf Demon Hunter. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).
14) Slayer of Manifestations of Negative Emotions
Cursed Vision of Sargeras, Supple Shoulderguards (1-640), Serpentskin Armor, Cord of Sha Savagery, Blazewing’s Furious Kilt, Gloves of the Blind Stalker, Treads of Illidari Supremacy, Ethereum Phase Blade
The “Sha Stalker” kit in the “Fel Camouflage” collection I posted about 13 months ago was intended to be a mock-Demon Hunter outfit. I chose the Monk T15 lookalike Raiment of Silent Stars chestpiece for that kit to evoke the effect of Demon Hunter tattoos. When I decided to put that outfit on my real Demon Hunter, she needed a chestpiece that would reveal her actual tattoos. The original outfit also used a fist weapon that I thought looked as close to a warglaive as a non-warglaive weapon could get; because Demon Hunters can’t wield fist weapons, I’ve somewhat ironically instead chosen some rather Monk-like swords of jade-colored mist for this version of the outfit.
I should note that I didn’t actually kill the Sha of Anger myself for this screenshot; I went out looking for it and discovered it already down.
13) Illidari Prime
Cursed Vision of Sargeras, Grizzly Jerkin, Infernal Firecord Sash, Cranefeather Britches, Ranger Gloves + Illidari Bracers, Griftah’s Authentic Troll Shoes, Warglaives of Azzinoth
It took Kiralaira 18 weeks to obtain the off-hand Warglaive of Azzinoth. It took her another 13 weeks (31 weeks total) to obtain the main-hand Warglaive of Azzinoth. When she had obtained both of Illidan’s Legendary glaives, I made this attempt to mimic his entire appearance.
Kiralaira only put on the changed horns and hair as a glamour for the photoshoot with Illidan, however, because that appearance made her look like someone else’s Demon Hunter — not mine.
Underdweller’s Spaulders (N), Supreme Breastplate, Dusky Belt, Scouting Trousers, Alpha Seal Handwraps + Scouting Bracers, Rapscallion Boots, Warglaive of the Fel Hammer
Surely I’m not the only person who sees this blindfold style and immediately thinks “Batman”?
This is definitely the most spectacular pose in which the Maiev-vs-Illidan plot stun has ever caught me; I couldn’t replicate it if I tried.
11) Age of Aquarius
Raptor Hide Harness, Riplimb’s Lost Collar, Windscale Sarong, Quilboar Skin Gloves + Elunite Empowered Bracers, Ogre-Hunter Boots, Sword of Honor
Kiralaira had gotten a bunch of armor upgrades from doing some questing, so she needed a new outfit. Casting about for an idea, it occurred to me that I didn’t have any saved-up or far-future plans that made use of the turquoise tattoo color.
10) Fel Spine
Demon-Rend Shoulderblades, Blessed Elunite Coverings, Illidari Belt, Jadefire Pants, Fuzzy Gloves + Jessera’s Fungus Lined Bands, Studded Green Anklewraps, Lava Spine
How a Burning Legion blade came to be in the gut of a lava worm in Blackwing Descent, I suppose we will never know.
9) Demon’s Bite
Demon-Rend Shoulderblades, Chronicler’s Chestguard, Glade Wanderer Belt, Bladefang Legguards, Fuzzy Gloves + Bracers of Shattered Stalactites, Vision-Tainted Treads, Maimgor’s Bite
I wanted the weapons to be the primary eye-catching feature of this kit, so I chose more muted, subtle greens for the armor items — except for the shoulders, where that glowy fel green coordinates nicely with the glow of the axes. I liked this chestpiece for the way her tattoos to peek above the neckline.
Although the Fel Hammer hovers above Mardum, there’s no way to get back down there. If you fall (or jump) off the edge of one of the Fel Hammer balconies, a big stupid bat will catch you and carry you right back up.
8) Crimson Veil
Bonechewer Shoulderguards/Hidden shoulder, Primalstorm Breastplate, Burning Blade Devotee’s Cinch, Mystic Sarong, Blacksting Gloves, Sandals of the Insurgent, Eternally Folded Blade
The problem with the Mystic Sarong is that although it matches the Sandals of the Insurgent perfectly, it also mostly covers up how perfectly it matches them. Setting her to dancing seemed like the simplest way to produce an easily observable range of motions that might allow me to capture the design of the sandals and the design of the kilt in the same image.
Additionally, the matching chestpiece, the now unobtainable Polychromatic Visionwrap, is cloth.
I debated whether or not to use shoulders with this kit. It feels more properly Demon Hunter-ish to leave them off, to better display her tattoos, but I also really like the way the outfit looks with the shoulders included. So as with the previous kit, I spent some time with the shoulders on, and some with them off.
This kit also seemed like a good opportunity to use the more elaborate of the Sin’dorei-themed blindfold designs.
7) Exile from Eden
Hidden shoulder/Shoulders of the Roiling Inferno, Runesworn Chestguard, Dragonmaw Emergency Strap (LFR), Ceremonial Leather Loincloth, Ranger Gloves* + Pit Lord’s Cuffs, Griftah’s Authentic Troll Shoes, Blade of Argus
A couple of years ago, it occurred to me that the green LFR version of the Siege of Orgrimmar Druid belt looked remarkably like the proverbial fig leaf. At the time, I thought that perhaps I might one day level up my Feral Druid enough to wear that outfit idea. When I saw how different this Legion leveling zone leather chestpiece looked on my Demon Hunter versus on my Rogue, well, then, this just had to happen.
For comparison, this is what this outfit would look like on another leather-wearing class:
6) Steampunk Demon Hunter
Fel-Proof Goggles, Powderburned Spaulders, Unrendable Wolfhide Robes, Conductor’s Multi-Pocket Girdle, Mennu’s Scaled Leggings, Ranger Gloves* + Pit Lord’s Cuffs, Boots of Captain Ellis, Peacekeeper Blade
This outfit concept is one of the reasons why I farmed up the Peacekeeper Blade — once I’d had the idea, it had to be done.
As I was looking through my collection for some suitable gloves for this kit, I decided to look at hand-gloves and bracers. I hadn’t taken a close look at these bracers from the DH starting zone before, so I was delighted to discover how nicely they work with Demon Hunter tattoos.
5) Shado-Pan Blade-Dancer
Replica Shado-Pan Helmet, Mantle of Darkness, Primalstorm Breastplate, Blackwhelp Belt, Tough Mushanhide Leggings, T’wansi’s Handwraps, Prospector’s Boots, Cloak of the Untamed Predator, Shado-Pan Tabard, Misery’s End
Making a Shado-Pan kit that included both the hat and the tabard has been problematic for me because I couldn’t quite figure out how to manage the hue gradient between the bright, orangey, scarlet reds of the tabard and the deep maroon of the helmet scarf. The key to this kit, for me, was the pants; they brought in enough of the brighter red-orange hue to balance out the maroons from the other pieces I wanted to use.
I chose the chestpiece primarily to leave the arms bare with the tabard on and secondarily to look good with the tabard off.
For this outfit, I also used the Barbershop to change her blindfold to the simpler of the two red & gold Sin’dorei styles and to change the color of her tattoos from their usual dark green to black.
4) Fel Stalker
Green Whelp Shoulderguard, Gilt Cuirass, Haal’eshi belt gloves & boots, Stalking Pants, Demon Commander’s Drape, Glaive of the Fallen
Another attempt at making a kit to go with the Demon Commander’s Drape, trying to work with its colors this time. I’m pleased with the mostly practical, functional, down-and-dirty look of this ensemble — with a little bit of impracticality in just the right place to show off part of her tattoos.
Felshroud set with Nobleman’s Pantaloons, Demon Commander’s Drape, and Glaive of the Fallen
Naturally, my Demon Hunter needed to do something with the leather Demon Invasions set and the Demon Commander’s Drape. I fiddled around with some different ideas before eventually concluding that the set works best pretty much “as-is” — though I like these trousers a bit better than the set piece.
Is it just me, or would the Demon Commander’s Drape be easier to Mog with if it were darker colored — more greenish-brownish-black, like the Legion structures, instead of greenish-brownish-grey?
2) Render of Demons
Demon-Rend Armor with The Brood Queen’s Veil and Fel-Etched Glaive
This is the gear a Demon Hunter emerges from the Vault of the Wardens wearing. Although the helm shown on the Wowhead page is the final helm reward from the Demon Hunter starting zone, the helm I am using here is the actual helm that a Demon Hunter is shown wearing with this set on the new character selection screen.
The first picture is the best one of her armor that I managed to take during the Vault of the Wardens sequence. She hadn’t yet replaced the belt, though.
