a touch of bronze and vanilla

November 20, 2017 by kamaliaetalia

It was awfully nice of the devs to just give us the 200 badges we’d need to buy the Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses.

Flames of Memory

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Spaulders of Manifold Eyes (H), Bloodfist Breastplate & Greaves, Abandoned Zandalari Bucklebreaker (LFR), Legplates of Absolute Control (H), Vice Grips, Darkhide Blade
The Underpowered Death Knight was the one to physically acquire the Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses; as my primary banker, she loves to collect decorative hats.
This shaded, two-toned blade is one of my favorite sword models from Mists. I picked the sword first, and the rest of the kit followed from there.

Antique Glory

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Warmongering Gladiator’s Mantle of Cruelty, Cindercloth Vest, Galaxyfire Girdle, Night Dreamer Leggings, Gossamer Gloves + Illidari Bindings, Elegant Boots, Scarlet Filigreed Shirt, Lorewalkers Tabard, Rod of the Blazing Light
The bronze shades seemed like they’d be a good accessory for a Lorewalkers kit.

Chronoflexive

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Gargantuan Mantle, Supple Vest & Leggings (3-670), Thatch Eave Vines, Runesworn Grips, Ballast-Laden Footpads, Honed Fang of the Mystics
Who better than Kelisanna “The Fabulous” to model a leather kit to wear with these fabulous shades?
Though she’s not opposed to wearing an entire brightly-colored outfit, when there’s a specific brightly-colored item that she wants to be the focus of the outfit, she prefers to keep the rest of the ensemble darker and more subtly embellished.

Tracer

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Spireflame Spaulders & Chestguard, Supple Waistguard (3-670), Ghostclaw Leggings, Gazlowe’s Gloves + Ghostwalker Bindings, Goat Hide Boots, Rustic Workman’s Shirt, Spellfire Longsword
I originally designed this attempt at a Tracer Transmogrification kit in honor of the official launch of Overwatch. The idea was primarily inspired by the slight stylistic similarity between the Spireflame chestpiece and Tracer’s jacket & chronomodulator device.
I decided that these brightly coloured pants were the best choice to mimic Tracer’s brightly coloured leggings, even though they’re the wrong bright colour. I thought the Goat Hide shoes were the best style match for Tracer’s sneakers, but they’re also the wrong colour. WTB this style of shoes in white, please!
I didn’t make the kit at the time partly because I couldn’t find a really good match for Tracer’s shades. It occurred to me, though, that the Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses would work quite nicely for that, so I needed to make the outfit before the 13th Anniversary event ended!

Golden Scales

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Golden Scale Shoulders Cuirass & Leggings, Ornate Girdle, Triumphant Gauntlets & Sabatons, Stylish Blue Shirt, Spirit-Clad Mace, Crusader’s Shield
It somehow felt appropriate to use this combination of Classic crafted gear and greens with the 13th Anniversary bronze shades.

I was only going to do one outfit for each armor type for this post, but then the rest of “The Originals” of my team — the other three of the four Tauren sisters of the four classes available to Tauren in Classic, and my Undead Mage* — suggested that if anyone should be looking at Azeroth through bronze-tinted lenses, it should be them.

Legend-Seeker

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Ordon Legend-Keeper Spaulders & Vest, Crafted Dreadful Gladiator’s Links of Accuracy, Groundshort Leggings, Rancorbite Grips, Crafted Dreadful Gladiator’s Sabatons of Alacrity, Bronze Blaster
The yellows in the Ordon-Legend Keeper items match the shades quite nicely. The coordination between the gloves and the chestpiece was a pleasant surprise as I was trying out different gloves.

Enchanted Thorium Artifacts

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Paudrons of Abyssal Fury, Enchanted Thorium Breastplate, Brawlgoth’s Choker, Inkling’s Leggings, Gauntlets of the Shining Light, Grim Sabatons, Burnished Quel’ Serrar, Flamescarred Draconian Deflector
Because the 13th Anniversary event made these gloves available again, and I got them, naturally I wanted to use the set they go with. And of course it had to be a Prot set, because if one was a Warrior in Classic, one was a tank.

Chieftain’s Pride

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Chieftain’s Shoulders & Gloves, Pridelord Armor, Supreme Sash, Warchief Kilt*, Shadow Wing Focus Staff
For a Druid, these Classic armor items were the obvious choice to complement the 13th Anniversary shades.

Nostalgia-Tinted

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Durable Shoulders, Sacrificial Robes*, Gossamer Belt & Gloves, Watched Watcher’s Slippers, Nimboya’s Mystical Staff*
Kivrinne was originally created as a Warlock and played at least through Silverpine Forest and probably some of Hillsbrad Foothills. I later rerolled her as a Mage. Though Kaelinda was the first Mage I created, Kivrinne’s initial creation as a Warlock does pre-date the creation of Kaelinda.
These robes were originally obtained as a rare drop from the boss mob in the Tower of Ilgalar in Redridge Mountains. Since Cataclysm, Horde characters have been able to get them as the Ale-Soaked Robes from the most entertaining quest chain in Silverpine Forest.

Now I’ve really got to get my Paladin leveled up to 110 and work my way through the Deaths of Chromie scenario to get the bronze version of the Hour of Twilight dragon shoulders to wear with the Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses. She’s already halfway through Revered with the Keepers of Time, so maybe I should push her all the way to Exalted with them, so she can wear the Keepers of Time tabard, too, and have the full set of Bronze Dragonflight accessories…

WoW Classic won’t be going live anytime soon. Nevertheless, this Anniversary event of fighting Classic world bosses that disappeared in the Shattering to get items from their original loot tables that have been updated only in ilevel and stat distribution has me thinking about rolling an alt or few on a Classic server — as I’m sure it was intended to do.

I miss certain landscapes and questscapes of Azeroth before the Shattering. Thousand Needles, the Barrens, Stonetalon and Ashenvale, Hillsbrad Foothills, Darkshore, Azshara, Orgrimmar… There are many quests in the Cataclysm 1-60 leveling experience that only really completely make sense if you’re familiar with the quests from Classic that they updated or replaced.

Dungeons like Wailing Caverns, Sunken Temple, and Scholomance will be back to their old crazy mazes. Shortly before the beginning of Cataclysm, I’d finally solo-navigated some of those dungeons enough times while Mog-farming that I felt like I understood their layouts. I don’t think I remember the old layouts very well anymore, though.

But I won’t be able to just hop into the new-old world of a Classic server and tourist around with an overleveled, overgeared, overpowered character. I’ll have to level a new character, from scratch… and there are all those group quests and outdoor micro-dungeon areas. Who will I do those with?

At least this very very early page of notes from my WoW notebook will become relevant again…

What a great idea for transmogs 🙂 I obviously adore the Druid one 😉

Awww your early notes there 😀 What a brilliant idea to get ready for Classic. I really want to dive in, but knowing its a while away, its nice to just spend some time on such things already 🙂

Well, you know me, if there’s a new fun thing, I have to figure out how to Mog with it 😛

    Working those sunglasses, girlfriend!
I think that, for me, playing in Classic would be fun because I would know that certain NPCs are important and significant in the “future”. Big fun.

      BD

Oh, yeah, seeing NPCs whose stories grew & developed is definitely going to be part of the fun of playing through Classic again!

A long time ago (in a galaxy far away), Rades and Vidyala had a bloggers guild over on Moonrunner-US. We could try a bloggers guild again on a WoW Classic server when they drop the new (old) version.

A bloggers guild would be a great way to get those things that need groups done! And it would be great for the ordinary social side of things too!

I really like your Tracer set. Very cool. My son and husband both play some Heroes Of The Storm so I’m a little familiar with the character. Mostly she caught my attention from her introduction video because her personality and voice reminded me so much of Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony (well….PInkie with weapons! 😉 ).
