A collection of outfits actually worn in-game by my Blood Elf Death Knight. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).
Some of the outfits in this collection are legitimate Transmogrification kits for a plate-wearing character. Others are RP-Clothes costumes intended to imitate the look of the blue-haired Kirin Tor-affiliated elves found in various locations. I’m not sure if these NPCs are actually supposed to be High Elves that have become blue-haired because of their exposure to arcane energy, or blue dragons in humanoid form. At any rate, the only way to achieve that appearance as a player character (prior to Shadowlands) is to be a Blood Elf Death Knight.
10) Edelweiss
Crown of Everlasting Fortune, Mooncloth Robe, Warm Blue Woolen Socks, Decalcified Elven Spear
I can’t claim any originality for this outfit; it’s in a Blizzard Watch header image that the writers often use when discussing holiday item Transmogrification. Nevertheless, I’d been wanting to make it when Lunar Festival rolled around again, and it occurred to me that it would look even more stunning with blue hair. The original outfit uses the Staff of Divine Infusion, but DKs can’t use staves.
9) Magesmith
Light Magesmith Robe*, Vindicator Boots, Decalcified Elven Spear
It occurred to me that Kandrista could also play the role of a blonde pseudo-High Elf.
This is a pure RP-Clothes outfit. This non-Moggable recolor of the White Linen Robe style was a rare drop from the Frostmane Trolls in pre-Cataclysm Dun Morogh. Kaelinda collected it during her Alliance adventures.
8) Ulduar Strike Force
Mana-Sphere Shoulderguards, Robe of the Great Dark Beyond, Windroc Greaves, Tabard of the Kirin Tor, Rimefang’s Claw
No belt is needed because the belt design is part of the robe.
This is the last of the Blue-Haired High Elf NPCs I wanted to imitate with my Blue-Haired Blood Elf Death Knight. I’m not quite sure what Kandrista will do after this. Revisit some of my favorite blue kits from the Underpowered Death Knight’s wardrobe, perhaps?
7) Dalaran Quel’dorei
Elder Wizard’s Mantle, Lesser Wizard’s Robe, Serenity Belt, Windroc Greaves, Shadowvine Cloak of Infusion, Tabard of the Kirin Tor, Decalcified Elven Spear
This RP-Clothes set is the same as the “Dalaran Wizard” outfit I’ve made previously for my Mages.
6) Kirin Tor Conjurer
Pauldrons of Arcane Rage, Robes of the Augurer, Manaspark Gloves, Misshapen Boots, Decalcified Elven Spear
This kit was originally inspired by Conjurer Awlyn and her associates (the NPCs who summoned the Insta-WQ item for the Mage Order Hall in Legion). The Kirin Tor Emissary who now appears in the new Orgrimmar portal room shares Awlyn’s appearance.
This polearm has the same model as a set of staves, which makes it perfect for a DK pretending to be a Mage.
5) Shards of a Scorned Heart
Forever-Lovely Rose, Mantle of the Resolute Champion, Truesteel Breastplate & Greaves (stage 2), Bloodscale Belt, Darkcrest Gauntlets, Thorium Boots, Shard of Scorn
I was feeling like I might have drawn the well of inspiration for Love is in the Air kits featuring the Bloodscale Belt dry, but Kandrista insisted that she needed a Bloodscale Belt outfit, too. I’d kind of been wanting to try using the deep maroon of the stage 2 Truesteel items in a Bloodscale Belt kit. I think this works rather well.
4) Frozen Heart
Crown of Eternal Winter, Night Commander’s Pauldrons, Chestplate of the Great Aspects, Shieldguard Girdle, Bone-Inlaid Legguards, Flash Freeze Gauntlets (N), Lead-Soled Seabed Striders (LFR), White Linen Shirt, Fang of the Leviathan
It was significantly cheaper to use a white shirt than to use the Barbershop to change Kandrista’s skin tone from the palest pink available to a normal Blood Elf to one of the deathly blue-white or blue-gray tones available only to Death Knight Blood Elves.
3) Crystalline
Pauldrons of the High Requiem, Iceguard Breastplate & Leggings, Rainbow Girdle, Gauntlets of Annihilation, Boots of Courage Unending, Life and Death
This outfit would also look magnificent on a Night Elf, Nightborne, or Void Elf Warrior.
Kandrista shakes her head at me as if to say, “you don’t need any of these other elves as Warriors, silly, you have me.”
2) Blue Dragon Princess
Recruit’s Robe*, everything else hidden (or taken off), Dragonscale-Encrusted Longblade
This RP-clothes outfit mimics the appearance of Stellagosa. The dress is the level 1 Draenei Mage robe; Kaelinda brought it home from her faction-change adventure just before Cataclysm. Sadly, that trick can no longer be done, because Mists made the level 1 starter clothes soulbound. The Astralaan Robe is the same style, though in white and purple instead of blue and purple, and the Anchorite’s Robes from the Aldor is similar colors, though a different Draenei style.
1) Purple Plate Robe
Imperial Plate Shoulders, Breastplate of Many Graces, Girdle of the Righteous Path, Cassock of the Loyal, Jouster’s Gauntlets, Waterwalker Greatboots (LFR), Gale-Proof Cloak, Warmongering Combatant’s Mageblade
I know, I know, Purple Judgment is so cliche for a Death Knight. She’s not wearing it because she’s trying to be a Dark Paladin or somesuch nonsense, though. She’s wearing it because it’s a purple robe and she’s trying to be a Mage or somesuch nonsense 😉 The blue accessories help with that, don’t they?
