A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by my Human Mage. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).

80) Port Authority

Grey Tricorne Hat, Bloodbough Mantle, Nobleman’s Coat, Standard Issue Airborne Belt, Nobleman’s Pantaloons, Archaeologist’s Quarry Boots*, Nola’s Shawl, Hacksaw Skinning Knife, Crow’s Nest Spotlight
When I first discovered how small the average amount of Seafarer’s Doubloons awarded for a single Island Expedition run is, I thought I’d just settle for getting this faction-neutral version of the Tricorne Hat. By the time I’d gotten this hat, though, I was really quite enjoying the relatively mindless run-around-and-smash-things gameplay of Island Expeditions — so I think I’ll eventually collect enough Doubloons to get the other two colors of the Tricorne Hat, too.

79) Amisi’s Amiga

Nightvale Cowl, Mantle of the Champion, Vestments of the Shifting Sands, Amaranthine Leggings, Nightvale Wristwraps, Kurkenstoks, Eye-Blinder Greatcloak, Rolfsen’s Ripper, Symbol of Transgression
Amisi Azuregaze and her husband Arille are the proprietors of the Legerdemain Lounge in Dalaran. Since their introduction in Wrath, I’ve been quite fond of them for being a mixed-race couple not only as in High Elf + Human but also as in fair + dark.
Ha, I didn’t even realize until I went to take the pictures how much Kimmellyn looks like Amisi!

78) Wrathful Moonpriest

Ceremonial Crown of Karabor, Wrathful Gladiator’s Silk Amice, Imbued Netherweave Tunic, Felcast Cord, Moonpriest’s Legwraps, Sunfrost Handwraps, Inferno Breath Sandals, Moonpriest’s Cloak, Steel Bladebreaker, Urn of Lost Memories
Kinevra’s first trip to the Darkshore Warfront rewarded her with the pants and cloak from the Moonpriest’s Vestments. I thought I’d see what I could come up with to show off these fancy pants.
Seeing the addition of darker skin tones to several races in the Shadowlands alpha datamining inspired me to see what the kit would look like on Kimmellyn.
Azshara’s palace in the Well of Eternity dungeon — and the surrounding Kaldorei city that can be seen from her balcony — seriously needs a renovation now that the art team have established what Highborne architecture really looked like. But of course, the devs will never actually go back and do that.

77) Shirakess Lieutenant

Shirakess Raiment with Freeport Falchion and Tortollan Traveling Lantern
This is the Benthic cloth armor set from Nazjatar. The name of it makes me think that the coat ought to have a second set of sleeves hanging limp below the normal sleeve location, as if it had actually been something worn by a Naga woman.

76) Blessed Waters

Khadgar’s Shoulderpads of Conquest, Sanguine Silk Robes (25H), Mindfire Waistband, Saltarello Shoes, Seafury Tamer, Chalice of Benedictus
I farmed Trial of the Crusader 10 for several months before this beautiful Alliance-specific off-hand finally dropped. This Kul Tiran wand (the first new wand style I’ve really liked for a long, long time) and this robe seemed like good items to go with it. I played around with a few different shoulders; these ones won out because of how their little orange gems coordinate with the orange gems decorating the Chalice, thus making the ensemble as a whole more coherent.

75) Ye Merry Gentlefolk

Finely-Tailored Green Holiday Hat, Swoop-Tail Shoulders, Councillor’s Tunic, Captain Sanders’ Sash, Willow Pants, Saltarello Shoes, Sawbones Shirt*, Drape of the Loyal Vassal, Stoneguard, Lantern of Hope
I wanted to make a holiday outfit with this vest, using trousers. It occurred to me that the colors and design of this cloak were quite festive, and I really liked how it looked with these shoulders.
The jolly gent in the last picture is Kimmellyn’s older brother Robbie.

74) Timewalker Archivist

Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses, Wound-Cauterizing Spaulders, Princess Poobah’s Dress, Cord of the Slain Champion (N), Zaetar’s Gloves, Kul Tiran Tidespray Linen Sandals, Keepers of Time Tabard, Lordbane Scepter, Dungeoneering Guide
A slightly fancier variation on this theme.

73) Bartered Vrykul Baubles

Bartered Vrykul Hood, Tread-Bind Spaulders, Bauble-Woven Gown, Frosthowl Cinch, Zaetar’s Gloves, Kul Tiran Tidespray Linen Sandals, Drape of the Chosen Dead, Vile Branch
I’ve long thought that this is the most handsome of the generally drab Northrend robes and have been wanting to build a kit around it. Getting this hood from the Tortollan pilgrimage scrolls quest seemed like a good opportunity to finally do that.

72) Miss Aria

Hat of the First Sister, Ravencourt Formal Mantle (N), Ravencourt Formal Robes (N), Mana-Cord of Deception (N), Handguards of Defiled Worlds, Sorcerer Slippers, Barrage Dodger Cloak, Baleful Spire
At level 115, Kinevra was just barely able to solo the first boss of Black Rook Hold to get this robe for this outfit.

71) Ice Sapphires

Fierce Gladiator’s Silk Armor with Wild Gladiator’s Silk Cowl, Merciless Gladiator’s Silk Amice, Boots of Incantations, and Ebonchill (upgraded, first tint)
This kit is named and styled in parallel with the “Fire Rubies” kit that I made with the Horde recolor of this set for Kaelinda (Blood Elf Mage #57). Perhaps in another two or three expansions I’ll feel up to soloing Normal Antorus to collect the purple version of this set for “Arcane Amethysts”.

Well! It seems that Blizzard is anxious to clear the way for a 9.0 announcement at Blizzcon.

I pushed to Exalted with the Voldunai earlier in the expansion in hopes that the Vulpera would eventually become an Allied Race for the Horde — and now they are! I know what I’ll be doing the first time I have a good amount of time available to play after Patch 8.3 goes live! I like the Vulpera Heritage Armor, but given the slow progress of the Allied Races characters I already have, I doubt that my Vulpera Mage will get any farther from home than Orgrimmar.

My Goblin and Worgen Mages won’t be getting anywhere anytime soon, so I read the walkthroughs of their Heritage Armor questlines. The Worgen Heritage Armor design and questline almost make me want to boost my Worgen to 110 and start leveling her to 120.

I’m not reading through the information about storyline progression such as the Horde and Forsaken leadership decisions, Tyrande’s opinion on the conclusion of the War Campaign, and the dragonflights. I want to experience those stories fresh when I play them. Besides, there are a few lore things I need to do first — Kamalia’s gotten her Heart of Azeroth to 60 but still needs to do the red dragon questline (and then she needs to get it to 70 and do the blue dragon questline), and I still need to hop into LFR for the last wing of Eternal Palace so I can go do the 8.2.5 Wrathion questline.

I’m glad to see the Vale of Eternal Blossoms restored… even if it is only to come under another form of Old God darkness. I’ll probably play through the Titan Assault events in the Vale and in Uldum at least once, just to see what they’re all about. I doubt I’ll do any of the other N’zoth attack content due to lack of time and interest.

Battle for Azeroth continues to be mostly misses on the raid Transmogrification front for me. I like the Uldir sets. I want the crown from Opulence and the Int staff from Jadefire Masters from Dazar’alor — but the sets? Nope. The Eternal Palace sets have some nice colors and some interesting style ideas, but they aren’t “must have” for me. The Ny’alotha stuff is another great big pile of Nope.

Kinevra finally finished the Loremaster plotline of Tiragarde Sound. She’s left almost all of the side quests undone — the Roughriders, the Tortollans at Norwington Estate, the hunting lodge, the steam springs resort, the guard tower, the Explorer’s League camp, what else? My plan is to go through Drustvar and Stormsong Valley doing just the Loremaster questlines as well, ignoring anything that’s obviously a side quest. I’ll come back to the side quests if I haven’t reached 120 by the time I finish the Loremaster questlines.

With the War Campaign no longer being gated by 7th Legion rep, I think I’ll have Kinevra contract for the Proudmoore Admiralty first after she reaches 120 — the sooner to be able to recruit the Kul Tirans.

As much as I conceptually like playing a Mage, however, I die so much when I’m playing one of my Mages! My Balance Druids feel more robust…

Will I ever do more with any of these characters than enter the world and maybe manage to get through the 1-5 zone and out to their racial capital city? Realistically speaking, probably not. Nevertheless, the collector in me still wanted to have a complete set of Classic Classes.

Way back in 2011, Millya of Manalicious* was doing 5-minute sketch portraits (batch 1, batch 2) for her friends, and I requested a portrait of Kaelinda**, thinking that I might use it for digital coloring practice…

Eight and a half years later, I’ve finally gotten around to doing that.

drawing by Stacey Landry; colors by me

* I miss Manalicious and still regret that I didn’t ever commission a watercolor portrait of one of my characters, even though I wouldn’t actually be going to BlizzCon…

** because I’d already gotten a Millya portrait of Kamalia, which has been my Gravatar ever since

On Tuesday night, I needed to put together an organic chemistry exam. I also really really wanted to play the finale of the War Campaign. So I did both, and didn’t get to bed until 2 am.

Before I talk about my thoughts on the War Campaign (such as they are), here are some before-and-after pictures of my Goblin and Worgen Mages to give those of you who are still trying to avoid spoilers some buffer space to click away.

When the first round of model updates came out with Warlords, I had to change the faces of my Gnome and Night Elf. Eventually I will take these gals to the Barbershop to look through all the updated faces. I’ll probably end up keeping the same face for the Goblin — though I liked the old version better. It’s more likely that I’ll change the face of the Worgen; I liked the extent of the white pattern on the muzzle better on the old model. I also liked the more subtle gray in the hairstyle of the old model better. *sigh* Now I understand the feelings of people who were disconnected from their characters by the previous model changes better (something that seemed, among the bloggers I read, to be most prevalent for Night Elves and Draenei).

So, about that conclusion of the War Campaign… (more…)

I doubt that I’m going to spend much time on Classic, but sure, why not reserve some characters?

I’m on Myzrael, by the way.

When Classic goes live — though probably not on the 27th — I will create a few more characters: Tauren Hunter Keturikka, Tauren Warrior Keijikka, and Dwarf Paladin Kyraleikka.

Will I ever play any of them significantly? Well, probably not…

Now that I’ve reached my primary Patch 8.2 goal of obtaining the Tauren Heritage Armor, what next?
Securing flying in Battle for Azeroth zones ought to be the next major goal, right?

I am currently about a quarter of the way from Honored to Revered with the Unshackled, and I’m about 2/3rds done with the “get 3000 XP for your Kelfin buddies” quest.

I prioritize my Kelfin buddy’s quests, because that’s the gate on the zone story questchain. I do those, plus whatever Mardivas puzzle chests are up, and whatever WQs I pass through on the way to my Kelfin buddy’s quests and the Mardivas puzzle chests. I don’t try to do all the WQs in the zone. Although I pick up the Requisition and Bounty quests, I mostly ignore them because even with the nerfs, I rarely manage to complete them “as I go along” while doing my higher priority objectives, and I don’t ever feel like running around the zone looking for those things after I’ve completed my higher priority objectives. I’ve picked up an Unshackled Contract, so I’ve been doing the Zandalar Emissaries again, too — if I feel like I have the time and energy.

I’ll figure out a Mechagon routine when I get there, which won’t be until after I’ve reached Revered in Nazjatar.

Besides various RL events and the uncomfortable realization that the beginning of Fall semester is only about 5 weeks away, so I really need to get back to work on getting my courses set up, I’m getting distracted again by other things I want to accomplish in Azeroth.

Now that I’ve got my (Kalimdor) Tauren Heritage Armor, part of me wants to abandon BfA content for awhile and just level my Highmountain Tauren Druid up to 110 so she can get her Highmountain Tauren Heritage Armor.

Thinking about that reminds me that I want to get Kaelinda up to 120 to get the Sin’dorei Heritage Armor. (There’s my Void Elf to be leveled, too, but she’s much lower priority because I am less interested in the Void Elf Heritage Armor.)

And what about Kaylynda and the whole Alliance side of the story — not to mention recruiting the Kul Tirans?

And then there’s my Tauren Druid, for whom I’ve been collecting a bunch of leather Island Expeditions stuff off of the AH, and my Night Elf Druid, who would like to give being dark-eyed a try…

…But, flying

Faction dichotomy takes the stage in this week’s installment of the Sunday Mog Show.

Druid of the Talon

Dragonhawk Hat, Preened Ironfeather Shoulders, Vest of Sobbing, Narf’s Explosiveproof Strand, Oil Gush Leggings, Discarded Slaughterhouse Gloves, Scourgebane Treads, Fordragon Blades
I first saw this glaive carried by the Druids of the Talon at the Shrine of Aviana. I’d never noticed it as a player weapon before, so I assumed that it was an NPC-exclusive model. When the Wardrobe came out, I searched for it in the array of polearms that I hadn’t yet collected, but couldn’t find it, so I continued to think that it was an NPC-only model. Recently, Alunaria tipped me off that it is an Alliance-exclusive model from the Trial of the Crusader. My Horde Druid still can’t imitate the Druids of the Talon, but now my Alliance Druid can!
The NPCs are wearing a brown recolor of the Feralheart hat that isn’t available to players. The Dragonhawk Hat seemed like the best substitute.
Some of the other Druids of the Talon, most notably the female Tauren, are wearing the Phantasmal Headdress, a recolor of the shoulders that is only available to players in mail, the Vest of Restraint, and pants that match the vest but are unavailable to players.
The Druids of the Talon found at Skysea Ridge on Draenor-of-the-alternate-timeway are wearing different armor, but carry the same glaive.

Paku’ai or Raptari?

Coarse Leather Armor with Chieftain’s Headdress and Warmongering Combatant’s Battle Staff
The Horde version of the Battle for Azeroth crafted leather gear (also the Jambani quest set from Zuldazar and the Brutohide BOE set) is the outfit worn by the Paku’ai flight masters of Zandalar. These devotees of the pterrodax loa Pa’ku are led by Hexlord Raal. This armor is also worn by Wardruid Loti, the leader of the followers of the raptor loa Gonk. Given that Loti and Raal are Zandalar’s version of Beatrice and Benedick and that Raal incites his followers to an intense (and rather juvenile) rivalry with hers, the shared armor appearance leads to all manner of annoyingamusing confusions.

Tidespray Linen

Tidespray Linen set with Fangcaller’s Staff (H)/Tidespray Linen set with Lord Aldrius’ Greatstaff (A)
The crafted gear from Battle for Azeroth has faction-dichotomous appearances. For Horde characters, the tailored Tidespray Linen set has the same appearance as the Loa Speaker quest set from Nazmir. For Alliance characters, the Tidespray Linen set has the same appearance as the Wickerwoven quest set from Drustvar. If Horde characters want the Alliance appearance, they should look for the Heartsbane set on the AH. If Alliance characters want the Horde appearance, they should look for the Bloodhex set on the AH.

This series of posts began because I set myself a goal to document new Transmogrification outfits in a more timely fashion. As soon as I create a new outfit, I write it up in a draft post. As the weekend approaches, I start working on taking fashion screenshots, processing them, and updating “Things my [Class] Wears” posts. On Sunday — though not every Sunday — I publish the collection of my recent efforts. Then I begin the next “Sunday on the Promenade” draft post.

Occasionally, I have ideas for themed Transmogrification collections that take several months to completely assemble. Thus, some of these outfits might get re-posted at a later date as part of such a themed Transmogrification collection.

If any of you, my dear readers, have kits that you’d like to share, I’d be happy to add you to the show! Just email me your picture(s), along with a list of the items in the outfit. I don’t regularly check my blog email, though, so if you’ve sent me an outfit, please make a comment on the most recent Sunday Mog Show post so that I know to check my blog email for your contribution.
