It’s nice this month that Children’s Week is early enough in the month that doing Holiday activities will actually be a significant contributor to collecting my Trading Post currency for the month, rather than being things I do after I’ve finished it off just for the fun of it.

I’ve already picked up the Wanderer’s Snowy Trappings and the pretty High Priestess’s Ceremonial Drape. The Lost Crown of the Arcane was an immediate must-have, too, seeing as how it is a recolor of one of my all-time favorite Mail Tier helms, the Crown of Flame from Firelands. I have the Magenta Cloud Serpent frozen from last month. I could get it this month if I choose not to get the Trial of Valor cloth set recolor or the Stormheim Vrykul leather set recolor. Knowing that stuff I’ve passed on will eventually come around again makes me feel less fretful about that decision.

As far as Children’s Week goes — I think I’ve done both the Classic and Cataclysm versions for both factions (because I seem to remember noticing the differences the first time I did the new versions); I’ve done the Burning Crusade quests for both factions; I’ve done both of the Wrath of the Lich King neutral options; but I was feeling burned out on Holidays during Battle for Azeroth and haven’t done the newest Children’s Week quests yet. So to do Children’s Week activities for the Trading Post, I guess I’ll start with the Zandalari and Kul Tiran orphans; to get the most out of that, I should go do them with characters who need XP, maybe my Druid and Human Mage. Then I think Kaelinda ought to go take Salandria to see her future self, and I haven’t quite decided which orphan to choose to round out the four for the Trading Post activity. My six characters who are doing the Wrath Dalaran fishing dailies in hopes of getting a Battered Jungle Hat have all chosen orphans to accompany them, to make the Trading Post activity for turning in dailies while accompanied by an orphan very easy to complete.

Here are my plans for Patch 10.1 tomorrow: BTH has an obligation on Tuesday nights, so while he’s out, I’ll log onto his account with his alt who is in my me-myself-and-I guild and invite my Void Elf Mage and my Dracthyr (who is Alliance to keep my Characters page more neatly organized :P) into the guild. I managed to finish up the lore questline in the Forbidden Reach (which I always want to call the Forgotten Reach, a name which is equally appropriate) in the past couple of weeks. I’ll probably do the first quests to go into Zaralek Cavern and fly around picking up all the new Dragonriding glyphs — and then I’ll set it aside for awhile. I’m still working on Dragonscale Expedition and Valdrakken Accord Renown and haven’t unlocked all of their 10.0 story content, and I think I’d like to complete that before I do the Zaralek Cavern lore questline.

Waveborne Diplomat’s Regalia with Freeport Falchion and Tortollan Traveling Lantern
Somewhat surprisingly, the newest cash shop Mog set wasn’t an instant must-have for me. I was dubious of the puffed sleeves, thinking they’d make the chestpiece, for all of its other nifty details, difficult to mix-and-match with. After a bit of looking at the preview in the cash shop interface with different characters, I figured out that the puffy upper sleeves are actually a shoulder armor item — rather clever, I think.
Then Kayliddia stuck her hand up and said, “It’s going to be forever and a day before you get around to leveling me so I can get my Heritage Armor, so I need that now.”

A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by my Kul Tiran Mage. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).

17) Elegant Occasion

Wanderer’s Midnight Scarf, Wanderer’s Midnight Cloak, Lovely Black Dress, Fine White Evening Gloves, Black Tuxedo Pants, Duskhaven Boots, Clear Crystal Rod*
This was the outfit that immediately came to mind when I saw the Fine White Evening Gloves.
When I thought of locations for elegant occasions, of course I first thought of Karazhan (see Blood Elf Mage #163).

The next posh place I thought of was the Cupola Cafe in the Upton Borough district of Boralus, so Kayliddia got to dress up, too.

16) Waveborne Diplomat

15) Sailor’s Success

Crimson Beanie/Dread Captain’s Chapeau, Swashbuckling Buccaneer’s Tunic, Swashbuckling Buccaneer’s Sash, Seafarer’s Pantaloons, Buccaneer’s Boots, Torch of Austen + Gnomish Liquid Transfer Apparatus/Admiral Taylor’s Cutlass + Mistyreed Torch, Cap’n Crackers
A new pirate hat wants another pirate outfit remix to go with it!
WTB a staff that looks like a mop so I can really be a swabbie.

14) Storm’s Call

Blue Tricorne Hat, Frosted Talonfeather Mantle, Robes of Celestial Adornment (LFR), Blue Workman’s Shirt, Storm’s Wake Tabard, Oiled Rigger’s Handwraps (LFR), Marrow’s Sash, Squallshaper Treads, Moonwood Bramblespire
Combining Kul Tiras stuff with Trial of Valor stuff felt like a crossover that needed to happen, perhaps because of the nautical names of some of the Trial of Valor items.

13) Avatar

Tasteful Eyeglasses, Stylish Blue Shirt, Squallshaper Leggings, Stickyfoot Sandals, Fighter Broadsword + Tome of the Dawn
An attempt to make my Human Mages look like I do in the Real World, sort of. I wear my hair in a tail like Kaylynda most of the time, but it curls like Kayliddia’s hair when I wear it loose. My hair color is somewhere in between the orange of Kaylynda’s hair and the reddish-brown of Kayliddia’s hair. My body shape is definitely more Boralus than Stormwind.
The sword I chose is meant to represent these play swords that my husband spent much of the last year or two making.

They have an aluminum bar core encased in cardboard and/or foam, held together with wood glue or caulk or sewn cord, and, obviously, duct tape.

12) Tide Witch

Shirakess Headdress, Charlotte’s Chastizing Pauldrons, Squallshaper Vestments, Frost-Touched Cord, Sirensong Handwraps, Sirensong Slippers, Ebonchill (PvP, default tint)
To finish off this series, Kayliddia returns once more to her familiar, comfortable Tidesage robes. And it wanted the Nazjatar pirate hat, it just did.

11) Charlotte’s Extensive Mind

Charlotte’s Chastizing Pauldrons, Robes of Rasped Breaths, Deeptide Cinch, Gloves of the Arcane Purge, Ikeyen’s Boots, Jaina’s Staff
Here we have these shoulders with the matching robe and gloves for the Northrend style set of which they are a part. The outfit name comes from Mantle of the Extensive Mind, which is identical to Charlotte’s Chastizing Pauldrons.

A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by my Kul Tiran Mage. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).

10) Etoshia’s Elegant Ensemble

Charlotte’s Chastizing Pauldrons, Robes of the Burning Acolyte (N), Belt of Arcane Storms (N), Etoshia’s Elegant Gloves, Cushy Cenarion Walkers, Flamecaster Botefeux
This outfit is a riff on the Bastion of Twilight/Blackwing Descent Priest Tier lookalike set.

9) Charlotte’s Spellbook

Simple Glasses, Charlotte’s Chastizing Pauldrons, Spellbinder Robe, Cushy Cenarion Walkers, Squirgle’s Deepstone Wand, Book of Many Blessings
Although the ringlets are my favorite Kul Tiran hairstyle, there are some others that I also rather like, so I thought I’d show them off, too, as I go through this series of outfits using these shoulders with different robes.
I’ve done this particular pairing of shoulders and robe before (see Warlock #24), but I’m doing it again for completeness in this series.

8) Jungle Witch

Cobra Priest’s Headdress, Charlotte’s Chastizing Pauldrons, Fen Keeper Robe*, Heavy Woolen Gloves, Ikeyen’s Boots, Fashionable Undershirt, Plundered Hozen Chieftain’s Stave
I am quite fond of these Northrend shoulders; this is the first of a handful of dark blue and green robes that they coordinate nicely with.

Although the Wild Combatant’s Battle Staff also looks great with this ensemble, I really loved the pop of contrasting orange from the Plundered Hozen Chieftain’s Stave.

7) Venus

Crown of Infinite Prosperity, Robes of the Triumvirate, Cloudscorcher Leggings, Staff of Twin Worlds
Kayliddia thought it was about time that she got to wear one of the Slinky Leia Robes.

6) Tidesage

Tidespeaker Regalia with Flamecaster Botefeux/Seabreeze
Kayliddia’s parents were retainers on Lord Norwington’s estate. As a child, she showed promise as a magic-wielder, so when she reached the appropriate adolescent age to be apprenticed for a trade, Lord Norwington sponsored her training as a Tidesage. When her training was complete, she served as a Tidesage in Lord Norwington’s shipping fleet. When the Horde raided Norwington Estate, one of her parents was killed, and the other parent and one of her younger siblings who was still at home were seriously injured. Kayliddia requested to be released from her service as a Tidesage to care for her wounded family members. When they had recovered, she further requested to be allowed to fight the Horde alongside Kul Tiras’ renewed allies, the Alliance.

5) Sittin’ on the Dock

Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat, Gild’s Crewneck, Seafarer’s Pantaloons, Umbranse’s Staff
Sometimes a gal just wants to go fishin’.

4) Emerald Enchantress II

Watcher’s Cap, Slime-Encrusted Pads, Falathim-Washed Robes, Delaris’ Gloves, Slippers of Unturned Loyalties, Whelp Keeper’s Staff
This kit is an update of an outfit that I originally created for my Forsaken Mage.
This is the red hair color for Kul Tirans, which looks more artificial to me on them than the very similar color that Blood Elves have does on them.

3) Kul Tiras Mudball All-Star

Crazy Cap, Almost New Shoulderpads, Durable Tunic, Willow Belt Gloves & Boots, Empowered Leggings, Tabard of Kul Tiras, Staff of the Formidable Opponent
This is what I came up with when I set out to make a pants outfit to go with the Kul Tiras tabard.
The shoulders made me think of (American) football, so then the kit needed a helmet, too; this hat was the most helmet-ish thing in cloth that also had the right sort of colors.

2) Tide-Etched

Mana-Etched Regalia with Beach Party Thong, Master’s Boots, Tabard of Kul Tiras, and Staff of the Royal Wizard
I had been thinking of this tabard as green, but when I went to try to color match it to make an outfit, I was surprised to discover that it is more of a teal sort of color.
I am so happy that Kul Tiran ladies have this beautiful ringletted hairstyle!
Although I think of Kayliddia as a redhead, I prefer this coppery light brown to the other “red” haircolor, which looks dyed to me.

1) Tide Sculptor

Spellsculptor’s Regalia
These are the clothes that newly created Allied Races Mages are given. They are identical to the clothes given to Boosted Mages. This set can also be obtained from the Warlords Garrison Salvage Yard.

Since reaching 120, Kinevra has done the Alliance side of things all out of order*. She did Mechagon first, so I could do the Mechagnome recruitment questline. Then Nazjatar, then the 8.0 War Campaign, then the Shroud of Resolve, then the 8.1 and 8.1.5 chapters of the War Campaign, then the second Siege of Orgrimmar and its small follow-up quests. I ended up doing the Pride of Kul Tiras storyline last — I’d heard that it was most excellent, perhaps the best story in all of Battle for Azeroth, so I suppose I was “saving the best for last” — and indeed it was as magnificent and moving as promised.

Having properly saved Jaina, I could finally recruit the Kul Tirans. At last, my roster is complete with a character of every race as Kayliddia the Kul Tiran Mage joins The Blue Team of my major characters.

Kayliddia’s parents were retainers on Lord Norwington’s estate. As a child, she showed promise as a magic-wielder, so when she reached the appropriate adolescent age to be apprenticed for a trade, Lord Norwington sponsored her training as a Tidesage. When her training was complete, she served as a Tidesage in Lord Norwington’s shipping fleet**. When the Horde raided Norwington Estate, one of her parents was killed, and the other parent and one of her younger siblings who was still at home were seriously injured. Kayliddia requested to be released from her service as a Tidesage to care for her wounded family members. When they had recovered, she further requested to be allowed to fight the Horde alongside Kul Tiras’ renewed allies, the Alliance***.

Before I did the Kul Tiran stories, I did the Heritage of the Sin’dorei questline with Kaelinda. I greatly enjoyed it and intend to write an RP story about it for her, like I did with Kamalia and the Heritage of the Shu’halo questline. First, however, I have to figure out where Kaelinda was and what she was doing when the Fall of Silvermoon originally happened.

With these major lore goals accomplished, all that’s left of my rest-of-BfA/pre-Shadowlands to-do list is mog farming and alt leveling:

* obtain the robe and belt of the Normal and Heroic versions of the Kul Tiras dungeon cloth set (the other pieces will be nice to have if I get them along the way)
* obtain the belt, gloves, and boots of the Uldir LFR cloth set (I already have the robe and shoulders)
* obtain the Phoenixfire Staff from the first wing of Dazar’alor LFR

* finish leveling Kaelyla to 120 and prep her for Shadowlands (rank 1 Shroud of Resolve, four rank 3 Essences, ilevel above 430)

* level Kasheena for Highmountain Tauren Heritage Armor

Although I want the Kul Tiran Heritage Armor very much and have all kinds of other Mogging that I want to do with Kayliddia (and I think I might want to take her to the Shadowlands, too), I plan to hold off on leveling her until Shadowlands so that I can do her leveling entirely in Kul Tiras and do all the quests and learn all the Kul Tiran lore that I skipped with Kinevra#.

* if I finish all these other things before the Shadowlands pre-launch events begin, do more Horrific Visions with Kerisa to get the second upgraded appearance of the Shroud of Resolve

The most significant thing to me about having completed my big Battle for Azeroth lore goals, though, is that hopefully now my brain will be able to shift out of “it’s summer and all I wanna do is play WoW” mode and into “Fall semester is coming up fast and it’s time to focus on getting my classes organized” mode.

~*~*~

* In-character, though, of course she would have done all these things in the proper chronological sequence.

** Or that of one of his business partners; it’s not clear if he would have a fleet of his own

*** Hmm… Kinevra, Kaelyla, and Kayliddia all have cause for strong grudges against the Horde, so I’m going to have to think about if/how they can still be able to work amicably with Kaelinda.

# Because the BfA Loremaster achievement is accountwide, Kamalia’s completion of the Zandalar storylines meant that Kinevra didn’t actually have to do everything in Kul Tiras. In fact, because she gained several levels during the WoW’s 15th Anniversary event from the trivia daily, she did little beyond the main storyline of Tiragarde Sound.

Alas, it was wishful thinking that misread the notes about the Echoes of Ny’alotha update to mean that if one character on an account got a rank 1 Shroud of Resolve, all characters would then be able to resume collecting Echoes of Ny’alotha.

Kinevra, Kaelinda, Kalaneia, and Kerisa have now completed “Beginning the Descent” and obtained their rank 1 Shrouds of Resolve. Kinevra has all of her rank 3 Essences; the others can now continue to gather Echoes of Ny’alotha to get the one or two Essences they still need. At some point, I’ll need to run each of them through the rest of the 8.3 questline, so they can cleanse Corrupted items and to decide which of them will take on the task of running Horrific Visions to get the rank 5 appearance for the Shroud of Resolve.

Some other things I still want to do before the Shadowlands pre-launch events begin —
* 7.1 Alliance War Campaign
* Pride of Kul Tiras questline
* recruit Kul Tirans
* Heritage of the Sin’dorei questline
* go back to Broken Isles with Kinevra to finish Order Hall campaign & get Archmage title

~*~*~

Kamalia hadn’t quite finished getting the Mechagon stuff she needed to buy the rank 3 Purification Protocol when the Echoes of Ny’alotha changes came out a couple of weeks ago. She’s now finished that, so bye-bye Mechagon — for good this time!

Kamalia and Karaelia are now retired, more-or-less. Kam will still go out to do Emissaries when the reward is 2K gold, and she’ll send her minions on money missions, but that’s all. I haven’t gotten the Shroud of Resolve with either of them, and I’m not sure if I will.

~*~*~

I’ve been ticking off Mogging goals, too —
* Kinevra & Kaelinda got all that I wanted out of Eternal Palace LFR
* between them, the three cloth wearers collected the Normal Zuldazar cloth dungeon set
* Kerisa got the partial recolor of the Kul Tiras leather dungeon set that comes from reputations and Heroic Mechagon
* Kinevra farmed enough more Seafarers Doubloons to get the other two colors of the Tricorne Hat

Here’s the Mogging stuff I still want to do:
* clothies run Heroic Kul Tiras dungeons to collect that armor set
* clothies LFR Uldir to collect that set
* LFR first and second wings of Dazar’alor to get Phoenixfire Staff and crown from Opulence
* Kinevra farm Darkshore Warfront when it’s up to finish collecting Moonpriest set (just robes & gloves to go!) and get the Sentinel’s Branch staff

~*~*~

And then, of course, I’ll want to level Void Elf Mage, Highmountain Tauren Druid, and Kul Tiran Mage to 120 to get their Heritage Armors. Kaelyla (Void Elf) will also need to get her rank 1 Shroud of Resolve and rank 3 Essences so that she’ll be ready to go to Shadowlands, too; the others may or may not, depending on how much of the rest of my to-do list is still unfinished when they get to level 120.

Now that we know what 9.0 will be, it’s time to think about my priorities for the remaining duration of Battle for Azeroth.

1) Kinevra needs to get to 120 and do the Alliance War Campaign while there will still be enough folks in BfA LFR for there to be reasonable queue times. This is a primary goal partly for seeing the Alliance side of the story and partly for being able to recruit the Kul Tirans and roll a gorgeous curvy ringlet-haired Kul Tiran Mage.

2) Kaelinda needs to get to 120 and get the Sin’dorei Heritage Armor.

3) Kerisa needs to get to 120 so that she can wear all of the Island Expeditions stuff I’ve collected off of the AH for her and to be in position to potentially be my first Horde character to level in 9.0 (because Balance Druids, with their self-heals, are more robust than Mages).

4) After reaching 120 and kitting themselves up in Benthic gear (they all already have full sets of tokens awaiting them), Kinevra, Kaelinda, and Kerisa need to go smack the Jadefire Masters and Opulence around until they cough up the Phoenixfire Staff and the crown, respectively. A lesser degree of LFR priority is collecting the Uldir and Eternal Palace LFR cloth sets.

5) Kamalia needs to get her Heart of Azeroth to level 70 (currently at 65) so she can see all of the dragon stories currently available, and then to whatever level is required for the additional bit(s) of dragon story that will be in 8.3.

6) Kinevra would like to collect the Darkshore Warfront set. Kerithian may not need to get to 120 if the Night Warrior customization option unlocks for her when Kinevra does the Darkshore Warfront introduction questline.

7) Void Elf, Highmountain Tauren, Kul Tiran, Vulpera, and maaaaybe Nightborne alts will eventually want to be leveled for their Heritage Armors, but this will remain a low priority, long game project. Between limited space remaining on my account and alt fatigue, I’ve decided that I will only create additional Allied Races characters if I like the Heritage Armor of that race well enough to want to level from scratch to get it.

This is what my Kul’Tiran Mage is going to look like… just as soon as I manage to get Kaylynda leveled… and through the Alliance War Campaign… and Exalted with the Proudmoore Admiralty…

It wasn’t until I saw this Blizzcon interview summary that I realized that I’d totally overlooked the inexplicable absence of Mages from the Kul Tiran class listing. I guess I’d just assumed that it was so obvious that Kul Tirans would be able to be Mages that I didn’t look to see if they actually could.

So, um, now what class will I roll for my Kul Tiran? If I want her to be a clothie, so she can at least pretend to be a Mage, she’s going to have to be a Priest. I don’t care for the Druid forms… Oh hey, Kul Tirans can be Shaman? Hmm, maybe a Shaman?

Yay, they fixed it!
