It’s time for another Transmogrification + creative writing challenge from WoWable!
WM3 Episode 2 asks:

What is World of Warcraft’s most romantic place?

I immediately thought of this spot in eastern Gilneas

which looks like it was designed with RP weddings in mind

…if it weren’t for the minor detail that it always seems to be raining in Gilneas.

Next, my thoughts turned to the Cathedral in Gilneas City, which is made especially romantic by the stained glass windows and the warmth of polished wood instead of stone for the rest of the construction of the building.

Crown of Prosperity, Noblewoman’s Finery & Skirt, Gloves of the Messiah, Sandals of Ritual
Kymberlea and her husband Bertie are middle-class tradespeople, so they probably would have been married in a smaller church in their own neighborhood rather than in the Cathedral itself — but of course in the abbreviated version of the City that exists in the game world, the Cathedral is all there is.

This little gazebo in Stormshield also seems to have been placed with romance in mind.

Suramar as a whole is a very romantically-designed place. I don’t remember exactly where in the city I found this gorgeous indoor garden.

Despite being in a cemetery, this balcony with its view overlooking Suramar City is one of the most romantic spots in the zone.

Another is the “Fountain” teleport location of the Occuleth’s Workshop complex.

It doesn’t have quite as wide of a view of the City below, but the little tables with food set out are just perfect for a tete a tete.

Pretty Posies
Crown of Courage, Scholarly Robes/Gorestained Garb, Mana-Cord of Deception (LFR), Exiled Dabbler’s Gloves, Ruby Slippers, Pilfered Ethereal Blade, Suntouched Flowers
I didn’t come up with this robe + belt combo myself; I saw someone else wearing it several months ago.

A few years ago, I participated in a series of Transmogrification challenges for which one of the prompts was “married”. These outfits are updated and adapted from the outfits I put together for that prompt.

The locations in these pictures are on Sunstrider Isle, where brand-new Blood Elves begin their adventures.

Blissful Bride

Crown of Good Fortune, Aurora Mantle & Robe, Mana-Cord of Deception (LFR), Exiled Dabbler’s Gloves, Sage’s Boots, Mardenholde Staff
The little knife on the belt may have some sort of ceremonial function or symbolic meaning — or it might be purely decorative.

Weeping Widow

Crown of Dark Blossoms, Silver-Thread Amice, Black Velvet Robes, Mana-Cord of Deception (N), Exiled Dabbler’s Gloves, Sorcerer Slippers, Chillwind Staff
Considering that 80 – 90 % of the Quel’dorei population is supposed to have perished in Arthas’ attack on Eversong Woods and the Sunwell, very few Sin’dorei are likely to have their families fully intact. Kalaneia’s husband was among those who gave their lives attempting to defend Silvermoon.
Kalaneia believed that her estranged daughter had been lost, too, until Kishalla showed up at Dreadscar Rift demanding that the Netherlord help her find her missing mistress, Shinfel Blightsworn. That both mother and daughter have become Warlocks has not made their relationship any less complicated…

A well might be a traditional location for a Tauren wedding — for a migratory or semi-nomadic people, a good well might become an anchoring location for their journeys, a resting place, and a gathering place where different tribes would meet and trade.

Unfortunately, my ideal Tauren bridal attire isn’t truly Moggable — the Crown of Courage can only be Mogged during Lunar Festival, and the Spring Robes can only be Mogged during Noblegarden. At other times, the actual items must be equipped.

this kit from 2019 is romantic in a Miss Havisham sort of way

Forgotten Potpourri

Crown of Dark Blossoms, Royal Amice, Robes of the Honorable, Master’s Belt, Black Mageweave Gloves, Apprentice Boots, Spellcrafter Wand*, Penelope’s Rose*
When the Lunar Festival flower crowns debuted, I commented that this coloration of the flower crown was just right for gloomy folks like Death Knights and Forsaken. After stumbling across this combo of flower crown and robe while exploring ideas for another character, I decided I ought to use it for my Forsaken, instead.

The Lunar Festival in 2020 brought a questchain allowing the flower crowns to be Transmogrified year-round!
Some of these outfits are more “romantic” than others — but it could be argued that a flower crown makes any outfit that it decorates “romantic”.

Queen of Spring

Crown of Boundless Courage, Elegant Dress, Sea Sculptor’s Cuffs, Eelskin Flippers, Crystalheart Pulse-Staff

Bouganvilla III

Crown of Boundless Courage, Savage Gladiator’s Mooncloth Mantle, Vital Robes, Silkwood Cord, Resplendent Sarong, Gloves of the Hypnotic Flame, Ruby Slippers, Pink Mageweave Shirt, Vengeance Staff
Kul Tiras has such pretty flowering vines!

Edelweiss

Crown of Everlasting Fortune, Mooncloth Robe, Warm Blue Woolen Socks, Decalcified Elven Spear
I can’t claim any originality for this outfit; it’s in a Blizzard Watch header image that the writers often use when discussing holiday item Transmogrification. Nevertheless, I’d been wanting to make it when Lunar Festival rolled around again, and it occurred to me that it would look even more stunning with blue hair. The original outfit uses the Staff of Divine Infusion, but DKs can’t use staves.

Eversong

Crown of Infinite Prosperity, Robes of the Battleguard, Buccaneer’s Pants, Kavan’s Forsaken Treads, Phoenix-Wing Cloak, Scarlet Filigreed Doublet, Rod of the Blazing Light

Eversong’s Sorrow

Crown of Eternal Memorial, Robes of the Triumvirate, Vileweave Leggings, Kavan’s Forsaken Treads, Ebon Filigreed Doublet, Cloak of Blade Turning, Staff of Siphoned Essences

Tranquillien Twilight

Crown of Everlasting Fortune, Robes of the Guardian Saint, Azure Silk Pants, Twilight Boots, Cerulean Filigreed Doublet, Relentless Gladiator’s Cloak of Subjugation, Grand Scepter of the Nexus-Kings

Sweet Summer

Crown of Boundless Courage, Vestments of the Shifting Sands, Native Pants/Red Silk Trousers, Ringo’s Blizzard Boots, Golden Filigreed Doublet/Amber Filigreed Doublet, Relentless Gladiator’s Cloak of Dominance, Wand of Happiness, Symbol of Transgression

Everlasting Efflorescence

Crown of Boundless Courage, Cenarion Spaulders, Chestpiece of Malorne, Vine Waistband, Clefthoof Hide Leggings, Forest Leather Gloves, Forestlord Striders, Gossamer-Spun Greatcloak, Staff of the Verdant Circle

Blood Moon

Crown of Eternal Memorial, Gladiator’s Wyrmhide Spaulders, Vest of Flowing Water, Feral Cord, Gloomtalon’s Spare Kilt, Rapscallion Boots, Talon Guard Staff

Lord of Icecrown and Princess of the Mists over at WoWable are starting up a series of Transmogrification & creative writing challenges that sound like they’ll be a lot of fun. I hope they will become wildly successful!

Their first challenge is:

If your character lived/worked on the Darkmoon Faire, what would be his/her occupation?

I’ve done a set of outfits featuring the Cloak of the Darkmoon Faire before, and any of them would fit this theme quite nicely. It would be both lazy and cheating to re-use my previous work, though, so let’s see what new ideas I can think up…

Out of all my characters, the ones who have the least sense of allegiance to their native racial faction are Kivrinne and Kermione.

If Kivrinne ran away to join the Faire, she’d be an Assistant Darkmoon Mixologist.

Fel-Proof Goggles, Pads of the Venom Spider, Spellbinder Vest, Nesingwary’s Sash, Fel-Infused Leggings, Cobalt-Threaded Gloves + Green Linen Bracers, Apprentice Boots, Tuxedo Shirt, Cloak of the Darkmoon Faire, Pot Stirrer, Flask of Forest Mojo*
She wouldn’t be the alchemical genius who invented the Inky Black Potion, of course, but she might make a batch now and then to help keep up with the demand. She might be the person who actually makes the draughts and tinctures sold by Faldar Willowshade, or perhaps the person who makes the flasks used by the Fire Eaters. She’d be one of the people who Chronos gives all those Darkblossoms to after herbalist visitors to the Faire collect them for him.
The only Florentine flask off-hand still available is the Tears of Heaven.

If Kermione ran away to join the Faire, she’d be a Wanderluster Mechanic. She’d be on the crew of Faire workers who keep all the mounts, obstacles, power-ups, and toll gates for the Darkmoon Races tuned up and functioning properly.

If she were high-level and had her Engineering skill leveled up too, she’d wear this outfit:

Electromagnetic Gigaflux Reactivator, Lunarglow Shoulderpads, Mechbuilder’s Overalls, Grievous Gladiator’s Cord of Cruelty, Phoenix Gloves, Gnomish Inventor Boots, Green Holiday Shirt, Cloak of the Darkmoon Faire, Ogre Pocket Knife, Spring Gadget
The shirt brings in that Faire green-and-purple, which the outfit is otherwise lacking, as it focuses more on the “engineer” theme.
I picked this Warlords shoulder armor because it made me think of a shop towel that she keeps with her to wipe off excessively greasy fingers, tools, and parts. This shoulder model clips rather badly into the bust of female characters of most races, but Goblins wear their shoulderpads far enough out that they don’t have that problem.

Working with her actual level and my current Wardrobe inventory, this is what I came up with:

Vital Headband, Willow Vest & Belt, Treetop Leggings*/Councillor’s Pants, Phoenix Gloves, Slippers of Unturned Loyalties, Cloak of the Darkmoon Faire, Noxious Shooter, Rod of Molten Fire
This outfit is largely an effort to mimic the clothing of the Darkmoon Carnies, with the cloak in lieu of the tabard worn by the NPCs.

I feel like these kits are a little on the bland side, so I’m looking forward to seeing what others put together for this prompt!
