Coming this fall to the Trading Post: Class-specific armor and weapon sets!

The catch, though, is that the armor sets are 450 Tender each, and the weapon sets are 500 Tender each, and one can only gain 1000 Tender each month. So, one armor set and one weapon set with 50 to bank for the next month, two armor sets with 100 to bank for the next month, or two weapon sets with nothing left over to bank for the next month.

Let’s take a look at the offerings. What do I want to get NAO, what do I want to hope comes around again next fall, and what’s a no-thanks?

Overall, stylistically a lot of the armor sets have resonances with previous favorite armor sets, and a lot of the weapon sets have resonances with Artifact weapon designs.

September
Paladin: armor set coloration is definitely chosen to coordinate with the Classic Judgment set, while the weapon set coloration is very Draenei (or the Burning Crusade recolor of the Judgment set); I’d go for both if my Paladin were a higher priority character in my roster, but since I want to save Tender for other stuff in later months, they will have to be a pass for now.
Priest: armor set is a definite NOPE since I don’t lean Shadow/Void aesthetic at all, from the weapon set the mace and book are nice but the staff is a nope; armor set is a hard pass, weapon set is a maybe later.
Rogue: armor set is a maybe later, cuz those shoulders would definitely look cool on my Pirate Ninja Tauren Outlaw; weapon set is a nope cuz my Rogues go for sleek instead of spikes on their blades.

October
Death Knight: nope, nope; the shoulders on the armor set are maybe okay but the rest is still outside how far I’m willing to go even when I do lean into the DK aesthetic for a DK Mog.
Demon Hunter: nope, nope; just not my aesthetic at all
Druid: armor set is a maybe later; weapon set is a YES PLEASE. Well, actually, I think the dagger looks kinda silly with the vines and leaves wrapped around it, but the two staves look awesome.

November
Warlock: nope, nope; just not my thing even when I do lean into the Warlock aesthetic for a Warlock Mog.
Monk: armor set is a maybe later; weapon set is a YES PLEASE. So pretty that I must have even though my Monk is a lower priority character on my roster right now. I love that the Brewmaster staff has both a teapot and a keg!
Warrior: like the Paladin armor set, the Warrior armor set is a maybe later; from the weapon set, I like the shield and the 1H sword but the 2H sword is not my jam, and it is also a maybe later.

December
Evoker: actually, I rather like both of these sets, but since I am not grooving with my Evoker — I do like to get each new class to the max level for the expansion in which it is introduced during that expansion, but that will probably not happen for my Evoker until the end-of-expansion lull — I would rather spend my Tenders on the other sets available this month.
Hunter: like the Evoker, these are both decent sets but I have to tag them as maybe later due to them sharing the month with two of my Big Three classes.
Mage: YES, YES; I think I might even have to wear the hat of this set to get the full three floating orbs look (a la Kael’thas), I’m not actually all that keen on the sword from the weapon set but the staff and off-hand are great.
Shaman: YES, YES; I can totally see Kamalia wearing that armor, and I really just want the shield from the weapon set because it has a great Shu’halo sort of look.

So, I’ll need to have 500 Tender to spend in October and 500 Tender to spend in November and somehow still have 1900 Tender available to spend by the end of December. Oh, and let’s not forget about the Medivh-inspired Guardian items that will be coming to the Trading Post in the autumn months, as well! That whole set will cost 975 Tender. I’ve been spending most of my Tender each month and putting an item on Freeze to purchase the next month — and there’s at least one purchase that I wouldn’t have made if these class sets had been officially announced earlier. I am going to have to be more picky with my spending for the rest of the year.

the fifth Horseman

I was supposed to be assembling an OChem exam tonight, but this idea for a short story grabbed my mind and wouldn’t let go.

This story is inspired by the “We Ride Forth” short story from Blizzard, the events of the introductory Shadowlands sequence in the Maw, and the further events that occur in the Maw as part of the Maldraxxus leveling storyline.

Spoilers for We Ride Forth, so if you haven’t read it yet, go do that before reading this story. (more…)

Having gone through the Maw a couple of times, I’m now wanting to level Kregga up to 50, dress her up in a good Ebon Blade kit, and send her into the Maw. She’d follow the questline up to the point where Anduin has been rescued and we’ve found out about the Waystone… and then I’d leave her there in the Forlorn Respite, with Highlord Mograine and the rest of the Ebon Blade, until the expansion storyline progresses enough to allow us to rescue them. The Highlords — Mograine and Fordragon, both — need your strength, Deathlord.
No, self, no, that side project needs to wait until I’ve got at least one level 60…

After escaping the Maw with Kaelinda, I decided to continue with her into Bastion instead of switching over to Kaurinka.

It felt like it took a long time to get through Bastion. I didn’t just barrel straight through the main story, though, but did some of the side quests, too. But then, the first time through any zone at the beginning of an expansion, when I’m doing a full playthrough, always seems to take a long time.

Now I need to decide whether to keep going onward to Maldraxxus with Kaelinda, or let her rest while I bring Kaurinka up through Bastion. I definitely want Kaurinka to be first to go through Ardenweald.

Bastion is definitely not the place for Kaelinda — or for any of my other longtime characters. Even my Priest and Paladin would be better suited for whatever plane of the Shadowlands is the domain of the Earthmother — the place where I hope Cairne and his wife are — than for Bastion. And that is, after all, why I created & Boosted a brand-new character (Keliora) specifically for Bastion…

story commentary follows below the screenshot and the cut; skip if you’re going even slower than me and haven’t finished Bastion yet yourself

A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by the Underpowered Death Knight. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).

70) Frozen Sky

Sky-Captain’s Formal Attire with Simple Glasses, Moonlit Mantle of Unrelenting Justice, Moonlit Treads of Unrelenting Justice, and Widow’s Fury
The white, blue, and silver color scheme of the Sky-Captain’s Formal Attire suits the Underpowered Death Knight perfectly!

69) +5 Flirty

Crown of the White Rose, Battlefield Lover’s Bow, White Traditional Hanbok, Love Witch’s Sash, Void-Warped Oshu’gun Mace
Kaumaleia likes pink, and she likes silly things, and she just had to have this bow backpiece to wear with her favorite dress.

68) Rule of Cool

Lord Godfrey’s Old Spectacles, Vault Attendant’s Cape, Nobleman’s Coat, Nobleman’s Pantaloons, Truesteel Boots, Jeweled Coronation Sword
Kamalia fished up Lord Godfrey’s Old Spectacles on her 110th cast in Gilnean waters after arriving in Gilneas to assist Lillian Voss and Calia Menethil with assisting Tess Greymane with retaking her City. Kaumaleia had been disappointed that she was too low level to wear the Gilnean Noble’s Suit, so she wanted an outfit with these rad shades instead. When I went to Gilneas to take the pictures, I was expecting to find the city in its Cataclysm state, but I guess because the Achievement for doing the Reclaiming Gilneas questline is account-wide, she found it in its new Patch 10.2.5 state.

67) Matron Kaumaleia

Crown of Boundless Courage, White Traditional Hanbok, Skettis Curved Blade
Now that her favorite pretty dress is Cosmetic, the Underpowered Death Knight might never wear anything else.

Jeweled Gold Dragon Goblets currently require level 58 to Mog; Kaumaleia is level 42. Maybe in a couple of years when the next expansion comes out and Dragonflight gets folded into Chromie Time?

66) Glowing Pinions

Rhinestone Sunglasses, Fireplume Plumage, Cloak of Seething Hatred, Fireplume Halter, Flameguard Gauntlets, Fireplume Insignia, Legplates of Blazing Light, Fireplume Talons, Ogre Splitting Axe
These pants, with their brilliant gold and magenta coloration, were the first thing that came to mind when I thought of doing a plate set with the Fireplume accessories.

65) Big Blue Boss Lady

Diadem of the Spell-Keeper, Imperial Plate Shoulders, Azure Wings of Awakening, Nether Protector’s Chest, Talonguard Gloves, Truesteel Waistguard (stage 3), Plates of Aku’mai, Icebane Treads, Rage-Possessed Greatsword
Yo!, said Kaumaleia, why have you not put me in the blue dragon wings yet, eh?
But Kam already used this headpiece with these wings…
SO? You’ll probably do it again with Kaelyla, just wait and see!
You’re really going to go bikini plate for this?
Well, duh — it’s totally Dragon Lady style!
And she did have a point.

64) Courageous Flutterer

Crown of Boundless Courage, Sprite Darter’s Flutterers, Burnished Breastplate of Might, Sprite Darter’s Sash, Burnished Legplates of Might, Gauntlets of Annihilation, Boots of Courage Unending, Draenic Ribsmasher
Kaumaleia always wants to look pretty, so of course she had to do something with the Sprite Darter’s Flutterers at once!

63) High Society Dress Armor

High Society Top Hat, Noble Plate Pauldrons, Enchanted Thorium Breastplate, Belt of the Soul Saver, Felforged Legplates, Fel Commander’s Vambraces + Hidden Gloves, Jade Tiger Warboots, Tuxedo Shirt, Guardian Blade
Several months ago, I found a High Society Top Hat for a reasonably decent price. I couldn’t decide which character to give it to, so my bank alt just held onto it. A week or so ago, I found a Duskhaven Top Hat for a reasonably decent price. Now that my cloth-wearing characters have access to a Moggable top hat, the bank alt got to keep the RP-Clothes item.

62) Pink Petals II

Commander’s set with Crown of Boundless Courage, Blood-Stained Pauldrons, Bloodscale Belt, Cloak of the Hollow/Snowfall Shawl, and The Hammer of Destiny
The pink flower crown prompted me to revisit this outfit concept (Underpowered Death Knight #31), which would be appropriate for either Noblegarden or Love is in the Air. I’m particularly fond of how this particular green cloak complements both the green Tauren DK fur color and the red tones in the armor.
Eventually, Kaumaleia reverted to her “natural” blue & white, and the green cloak didn’t work anymore. Fortunately, there is another cloak in the same style with colors that do.

61) Rose Knight

Crown of Boundless Courage, Blood-Stained Pauldrons, Darkrune Breastplate, Bloodscale Girdle Gauntlets & Sabatons, Direwing Legguards, Master Builder’s Shirt, Obsidium Executioner
Kaumaleia wanted to wear the pink flowers, and this is what she thought would go best with them.

A collection of outfits actually worn in-game by my Blood Elf Death Knight. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).

Some of the outfits in this collection are legitimate Transmogrification kits for a plate-wearing character. Others are RP-Clothes costumes intended to imitate the look of the blue-haired Kirin Tor-affiliated elves found in various locations. I’m not sure if these NPCs are actually supposed to be High Elves that have become blue-haired because of their exposure to arcane energy, or blue dragons in humanoid form. At any rate, the only way to achieve that appearance as a player character (prior to Shadowlands) is to be a Blood Elf Death Knight.

16) Sindragosa’s Wrath

Crafted Malevolent Gladiator’s Dreadplate Armor with Pauldrons of Conviction, Azure Wings of Awakening, Swordhook Slingbelt, and Widow’s Fury
The blue Dragonflight Epic edition cosmetic wings coordinate beautifully with the darker blue haircolor originally available exclusively to Blood Elf Death Knights.

15) Icy Ebon Blades

Night Commander’s Pauldrons, Primal Gladiator’s Plate Breastplate & Legplates, Bogslayer Belt, Lucidity Handwraps, Treads of the Common Man, Sentinel’s Winter Cloak, Tabard of the Ebon Blade, Icy Ebon Blade
When the new appearance customization options debuted with the Shadowlands pre-patch, the formerly Death Knight-exclusive blue hair colors became availalbe to all Blood Elves. I gave Kandrista one of the Death Knight-exclusive skin tones instead, which changed her face, as well. I also switched her hair back to blue. Eventually, she tired of her blue hair clashing with the red and gold of the Sin’dorei Heritage Armor, and she didn’t have an Ebon Blade kit yet.

14) Sin’dorei Smasher

Heritage of the Sin’dorei (tunic version) with Hammer of the Penitent
Before Kandrista’s hair was blue, it was golden.

13) Long Bitter Night

Crown of Eternal Winter, Razorfin Shoulderguards, Battleplate of Ancient Kings (N), Swordhook Slingbelt, Legguards of the Emerald Brood (N), Magma Plated Handguards (N), Treads of Savage Beatings, Chromatically Tempered Sword
Kandrista gets to wear this outfit because, at level 111, she can use the Razorfin Shoulderguards, whereas Kaumaleia, at level 104, cannot.
I dithered for some time between this sword and Hailstorm.

I ultimately chose the Chromatically Tempered Sword because felt like its black detailing pulled the ensemble as a whole together more nicely.

12) Winter’s Kiss

Crown of Everlasting Fortune, Symbolic Pauldrons, Iceguard Breastplate, Royal Qiraji Belt, Iceguard Leggings, Warleader’s Gauntlets & Greaves, Sonic Spear
The flower crown takes this outfit concept to eleven.

11) Everlasting Loveliness

Crown of Everlasting Fortune, Lovely Blue Dress, Iceguard Leggings, Boots of the Fallen Hero, Decalcified Elven Spear
As of Lunar Festival in 2020, the flower crowns can now be Mogged year-round, making this Love is in the Air outfit possible!

A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by my Tauren Death Knight. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).

67) Jade Variations

Summer: Gilded Sunglasses, Jade Breastplate, Jade Legplates, Vorpil’s Ribsmasher

Blue Skies: Gilded Sunglasses, Selfless Wings of the Ascended, Jade Breastplate, Waistguard of Divine Grace, Jade Legplates, Frostbitten Hammer

Goin’ Green: Fel-Proof Goggles, Gleaming Mantle of Unrelenting Justice, Gleaming Cloak of Unrelenting Justice, Jade Breastplate, Gleaming Gloves of Unrelenting Justice, Gleaming Belt of Unrelenting Justice, Jade Legplates, Gleaming Treads of Unrelenting Justice, Vorpil’s Ribsmasher
A series of outfits I made for sequential themes in the March 2024 Trial of Style.

66) Unholy Taint

Annihilan Helm, Maw Guard’s Spiked Spaulders, Ornate Battleplate of the Master, Handguards of Revitalization, Girdle of Gar’gol, Warrior’s Greaves, Glintrok Sollerets, Uroe
Kregga was tired of looking like she’d been on vacation in Nazmir, but dressing up for the spring holidays is Not Her Thing.

65) Blood Crazed

Bones of the Bloodhunter with Bloody Visage of the Laughing Skull, Ancestral Stonehoof Totem, and De-Raged Waraxe
During her youth as a Grimtotem warrior on the vanguard of the Tauren tribes’ migration through Centaur territory, Kregga saw warriors among her own tribe, the Ragetotem, and the Bloodhoof whose motivation for battle against the Centaur drifted from protection, to vengeance, to insanity.

64) Grimtotem Champion

Ancestral Skychaser Totem, Durotan’s Battle Harness, Warsong Gauntlets*, Belt of Unwanted Aid*, Cobalt Legguards, Misshapen Boots, Backbreaker
Before she became a Death Knight, Kregga’s youthful ambition was to become one of Magatha’s personal guards.

63) Shadowed Stars

Radiant Court Attire with Razorfin Shoulderguards, Shroud of Resolve (rank 12), Sinfall Venthyr Slippers, and Heart Lesion Blade
After all the effort my Druid went to to obtain this cloak, it’s my Death Knight who gets to be first to wear it because she was the first to have a great idea for a Mog incorporating it. The lowering of the level requirement to Mog Shadowlands items in Patch 10.1 was crucial for the creation of this outfit.

62) Herald of Shadows

Frostforged Greathelm, Razorfin Shoulderguards, Breastplate of Vaulted Skies, Shellbuckle Girdle, Acherus Knight’s Legplates, Crafted Malevolent Gladiator’s Dreadplate Gauntlets, Runescribed Blade
Now what this set needs as a finishing touch is the dark version of the Kyrian wings…
It proved much easier than I anticipated to make for Kregga a kit using these shoulders that is very different from the one I had made for Kandrista (see Blood Elf Death Knight #13). Something I particularly like about this kit is how the diamond pattern on the shoulders is echoed by the diamond pattern on these Mists crafted PvP gloves.

61) Grim Totem

Reaver Epaulets, Drakescale Breastplate, Foundry-Fired Plate Girdle, Direwing Legguards, Boneclenched Gauntlets, Ribsteel Footguards, Ancestral Chieftain’s Totem, Warmongering Combatant’s Slicer
Once, this was my tribe…
(and she’d still wear the arm paint, though not the face paint, if that option becomes available in Shadowlands)

Back in 2013, when the three helms for Transmogrification were first introduced at the Blizzard Store, the Underpowered Death Knight immediately wanted the Crown of Eternal Winter. She thought she’d look great in it!

Then I discovered that the Crown of Eternal Winter had a spooky animation, and while I liked the basic design of the crown, I didn’t like the spooky animation:

So I just bought the Jewel of the Firelord, which I have used many times since. I did think, though, that if the Crown of Eternal Winter ever went on sale for, say, $5, then I might pick it up. And now it is on sale for $5 — prior to being retired — so I picked it up.

The Underpowered Death Knight is very happy to finally have the hat she has wanted for over five years!

Fortress of Eternal Winter

Crown of Eternal Winter, Heaving Plates of Protection, Icebane Chestguard, Swordhook Slingbelt, Legguards of the Emerald Brood (N), Magma Plated Handguards (N), Treads of Savage Beatings, Icy Ebon Blade
While I was assembling this kit, I experimented in the Dressing Room with a darker variation that used the Crafted Malevolent Gladiator’s Dreadplate Chestpiece and Honorary Combat Engineer’s Heavy Legplates, which I thought looked very good —

— but the Underpowered Death Knight has a fundamentally cheerful personality that is better suited by the brighter variation.

Naturally, Kandrista wanted to wear it, too.

Frozen Heart

Crown of Eternal Winter, Night Commander’s Pauldrons, Chestplate of the Great Aspects, Shieldguard Girdle, Bone-Inlaid Legguards, Flash Freeze Gauntlets (N), Lead-Soled Seabed Striders (LFR), White Linen Shirt, Fang of the Leviathan
It was significantly cheaper to use a white shirt than to use the Barbershop to change Kandrista’s skin tone from the palest pink available to a normal Blood Elf to one of the deathly blue-white or blue-gray tones available only to Death Knight Blood Elves.

And making a Frozen reference was well-nigh irresistable…

Cold Never Bothered Me, Anyway II

Crown of Eternal Winter, Enigma Shoulderpads, Well-Stitched Robe, Girdle of Nobility, Mana-Etched Gloves, Sigil-Laced Boots, Dark Phantom Cape, Icicle Rod*
I previously made an outfit with this name for Kaelinda (#11) — that kit and this one, however have nothing else in common except the inspiration.

I managed to not bring work home this evening — oh, there was work I could have brought home, but I’d succeeded in getting everything that had to be done just to be ready for class tomorrow finished before I left campus — which gave me a bit more time than I’ve had lately for Azeroth.

I thought at first that maybe I’d go vacuum up World Quests with my Monk, who is (very slowly) working on getting the 200 WQ tint for the Hidden appearance of her Brewmaster Artifact. A Legion Invasion was occurring in Azsuna, so I was going to ignore it, until I noticed, oh, hey, those quests all reward Nethershards. Somehow I’d never before connected Legion Invasions rewarding Nethershards with how I’d been thinking that someday I ought to go farm Nethershards with my Paladin and my Death Knight so that they could get their special class weapons from the Broken Shore — Arsenal: Armaments of the Silver Hand and Arsenal: Armaments of the Ebon Blade, respectively.

There was just enough time left on the Invasion for me to do it with both Death Knight and Paladin — and just enough Nethershards rewarded for both of them to be able to buy their Arsenals.

So yay, now I have that crossed off of my list of things I still wanted to accomplish in Legion content.

Both Paladin and Death Knight are due for new Mogs, so their next kits (whenever I get around to making them) will probably feature Arsenal items. I’m not going to try to make kits specifically featuring all of the Arsenal items, however. I’ll just use my favorites when they’re the right weapon for the kit I happen to be making.

A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by my Tauren Death Knight. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).

60) Macabre Visage

Bloody Visage of the Laughing Skull, Pauldrons of Gruesome Fate, Ancestral Chieftain’s Armor, Sha-Trapper Waistguard, Tarnished Fanatic’s Wargreaves & Warboots, Furious Deathgrips, Antiseptic-Soaked Dressing, Cloak of the Shadowed Sun, Ancient Loa-Blessed Mace
It’s kind of too bad that this chestpiece is Tauren-only, because this outfit would look simply fantastic on a Troll or a Mag’har Orc.

59) Pestilence

Deathlord’s Battleplate with The Horseman’s Horrific Hood, Truesteel Waistguard (stage 1), Blackrock Legplates, Demon Commander’s Drape, and Apocalypse (default, original tint)
I wanted to do this outfit concept for Hallow’s End last year, but at the time, I was still way too far behind on the Suramar rep I needed for the shoulders.

58) Ancestral Gravewalker

Ancestral Chieftain’s Armor with Antiseptic-Soaked Dressing, Tarnished Fanatic’s Wargreaves, and Mighty Gorian Cleaver
This was the most difficult kit to get right. Eventually, I decided that the set bone chestpiece was the best for a DK, so I put in a shirt. Though these pants are Trollish in origin, they have the same bone aesthetic, plus those gnarly skulls on the knees.

57) Emberwyrm

Jewel of the Firelord, Blackrock Pauldrons Gauntlets & Greaves, Carapace of Imbibed Flame (H), Foundry-Fired Plate Girdle, Legplates of Frenzied Devotion (H), Blades of the Fallen Prince (upgraded, third tint)
Darkness and ice get so boring sometimes, so let’s try darkness and fire for a while.
The imminent return of the Midsummer Fire Festival may also have had something to do with choosing a firey outfit.

56) Nightwell Liberator

Doomplate Shoulderguards, Darkrune Breastplate, Bogslayer Belt, Weaponmaster’s Legplates, Lucidity Handwraps, Thunderpeak Greatboots, Edge of the Cosmos/Black Ice, Rich Purple Silk Shirt, Nightfallen Tabard
Having set Kregga to (very slowly) gathering Nightfallen Paragon chests, I decided she should dress the part. The “of the Nightfall” title completes the look for this Nightfallen Tabard outfit.
I tried the Lavender Mageweave Shirt, as well. It matches the color of the design on the tabard nicely — but I also felt that it distracted too much from the tabard.

55) Crown of Frost and Shadow

Jandvik set with Crown of Eternal Winter, Girdle of Eternal Memory, Tabard of the Ebon Blade, and Slayer of the Lifeless
Kregga wanted to get in on the spooky frost crown fun, too. I took the hat off when she visited the Chamber of the Heart, though, lest it be in the wrong phase of its animation at the crucial screenshot moments.

54) Blood Furnace

Bloody Bandanna, Shoulderplates of the Eternal, Heavy Mithril Breastplate, Fleshless Girdle, Greaves of the Martyr, Blackrock Gauntlets & Greaves, Bloodied Ebon Warsword
I’d made kits with the green and blue versions of this sword, so I figured I might as well make an outfit with the red one to complete the set.
It’s a bit confusing how the term “greaves” is sometimes used for legplates and sometimes used for boots. This outfit has examples of both!

53) Unholy Rooksguard

Rooksguard Armor with The Horseman’s Horrific Hood, Veteran’s Scaled Belt, and Unholy Ebon Warsword
I initially thought the nubbly texture of the Legion plate leveling sets was kind of neat — until I looked closely, and then it became entirely too creepy. This coloration, which is obtained in Val’sharah, is perfect for a DK during Hallow’s End, though!

52) Deathlord of the Ebon Blade

Warchief’s Mantle, Breastplate of Retribution, Bogslayer Belt, Legguards of the Resolute Defender, Death Grips, Boots of the Unwavering Will, Master Builder’s Shirt, Tabard of the Ebon Blade, Blades of the Fallen Prince (upgraded, first tint)
This outfit is a minor variation on one of the very first Transmogrification kits I made for Kregga.

51) Acherus Captain

Wapach’s Spaulders of Solidarity, Breastplate of the Imperial Joust, Dragonslayer’s Brace, Legplates of Relentless Onslaught, Cliffbreaker Gauntlets & Sabatons, Master Builder’s Shirt, Icier Barbed Spear/Blades of the Fallen Prince
The set from which the shoulders, chestpiece, and legplates of this outfit come is the armor of the Death Knight Captains in the Military Wing of Naxxramas. When it was made available to players via the Trial of the Champion dungeon, a bluish-silver recolor (sadly lacking shoulders) that is more suitable for Paladins and a bronze recolor that is more suitable for Warriors were added.

At any rate, the only way to achieve that appearance as a player character (prior to Shadowlands) is to be a Blood Elf Death Knight.

10) Edelweiss

Crown of Everlasting Fortune, Mooncloth Robe, Warm Blue Woolen Socks, Decalcified Elven Spear
I can’t claim any originality for this outfit; it’s in a Blizzard Watch header image that the writers often use when discussing holiday item Transmogrification. Nevertheless, I’d been wanting to make it when Lunar Festival rolled around again, and it occurred to me that it would look even more stunning with blue hair. The original outfit uses the Staff of Divine Infusion, but DKs can’t use staves.

9) Magesmith

Light Magesmith Robe*, Vindicator Boots, Decalcified Elven Spear
It occurred to me that Kandrista could also play the role of a blonde pseudo-High Elf.
This is a pure RP-Clothes outfit. This non-Moggable recolor of the White Linen Robe style was a rare drop from the Frostmane Trolls in pre-Cataclysm Dun Morogh. Kaelinda collected it during her Alliance adventures.

8) Ulduar Strike Force

Mana-Sphere Shoulderguards, Robe of the Great Dark Beyond, Windroc Greaves, Tabard of the Kirin Tor, Rimefang’s Claw
No belt is needed because the belt design is part of the robe.
This is the last of the Blue-Haired High Elf NPCs I wanted to imitate with my Blue-Haired Blood Elf Death Knight. I’m not quite sure what Kandrista will do after this. Revisit some of my favorite blue kits from the Underpowered Death Knight’s wardrobe, perhaps?

7) Dalaran Quel’dorei

Elder Wizard’s Mantle, Lesser Wizard’s Robe, Serenity Belt, Windroc Greaves, Shadowvine Cloak of Infusion, Tabard of the Kirin Tor, Decalcified Elven Spear
This RP-Clothes set is the same as the “Dalaran Wizard” outfit I’ve made previously for my Mages.

6) Kirin Tor Conjurer

Pauldrons of Arcane Rage, Robes of the Augurer, Manaspark Gloves, Misshapen Boots, Decalcified Elven Spear
This kit was originally inspired by Conjurer Awlyn and her associates (the NPCs who summoned the Insta-WQ item for the Mage Order Hall in Legion). The Kirin Tor Emissary who now appears in the new Orgrimmar portal room shares Awlyn’s appearance.
This polearm has the same model as a set of staves, which makes it perfect for a DK pretending to be a Mage.

5) Shards of a Scorned Heart

Forever-Lovely Rose, Mantle of the Resolute Champion, Truesteel Breastplate & Greaves (stage 2), Bloodscale Belt, Darkcrest Gauntlets, Thorium Boots, Shard of Scorn
I was feeling like I might have drawn the well of inspiration for Love is in the Air kits featuring the Bloodscale Belt dry, but Kandrista insisted that she needed a Bloodscale Belt outfit, too. I’d kind of been wanting to try using the deep maroon of the stage 2 Truesteel items in a Bloodscale Belt kit. I think this works rather well.

4) Frozen Heart

3) Crystalline

Pauldrons of the High Requiem, Iceguard Breastplate & Leggings, Rainbow Girdle, Gauntlets of Annihilation, Boots of Courage Unending, Life and Death
This outfit would also look magnificent on a Night Elf, Nightborne, or Void Elf Warrior.
Kandrista shakes her head at me as if to say, “you don’t need any of these other elves as Warriors, silly, you have me.”

2) Blue Dragon Princess

Recruit’s Robe*, everything else hidden (or taken off), Dragonscale-Encrusted Longblade
This RP-clothes outfit mimics the appearance of Stellagosa. The dress is the level 1 Draenei Mage robe; Kaelinda brought it home from her faction-change adventure just before Cataclysm. Sadly, that trick can no longer be done, because Mists made the level 1 starter clothes soulbound. The Astralaan Robe is the same style, though in white and purple instead of blue and purple, and the Anchorite’s Robes from the Aldor is similar colors, though a different Draenei style.

1) Purple Plate Robe

Imperial Plate Shoulders, Breastplate of Many Graces, Girdle of the Righteous Path, Cassock of the Loyal, Jouster’s Gauntlets, Waterwalker Greatboots (LFR), Gale-Proof Cloak, Warmongering Combatant’s Mageblade
I know, I know, Purple Judgment is so cliche for a Death Knight. She’s not wearing it because she’s trying to be a Dark Paladin or somesuch nonsense, though. She’s wearing it because it’s a purple robe and she’s trying to be a Mage or somesuch nonsense 😉 The blue accessories help with that, don’t they?
